They'll never get 5k for that. New ninjas here otd cost about 4,600. 5k is more then a few hundred over a brandnew bike. I wouldn't be made about that. Lol

Honestly a 600 is not to dad to start on and insurance I was told is re same for all sprit bikes... But I'm so happy I started on the 250, there has been a few tomes where iv done noob things and thought I'm so glad its a 250 or I never would of recovered. Do what makes you happy and know what ur limits are.

Get the SV650.

Wait...have you look at any pregens? They tend to be dirt cheap these days.

I got my pregen in great shape with 15k miles for $800. I also only pay about $100/YEAR for full coverage on it

one of my reasons for wanting a 250 is insurance, so nothing else to say about that. I only want a new gen. My brother has a pregen, and i straight up want a new gen...besides, i think they are damn sexy compares to pregens

So the 5k price isn't completely terrible, it just seems like it to the stateside guys. It's still high though for a 2-3 year old bike

As the seller, that's their right. Sitting here complaining about it isn't going to change the fact that you're not getting that motorcycle.

Your brother has a pregen. Why don't you borrow his for a while?

Wait for a decent priced one and keep saving up. Worst case scenario you show up at a dealer with cash in hand for a new off the floor bike and deal with them to throw in some free stuff.

When it comes to buying a motorcycle, it's a waiting game. They're not as readily available as cars/trucks so you can't just walk down the street and run into 5 people selling what you want. Even more so during the summer when everyone has motorcycle fever and wants to buy for the season then sell it next year.

If you NEED a bike, get a cheap pregen (insurance is practically free...I pay $120/yr full coverage), who cares if it looks dated. It's a bike that will scoot you around the same as a newgen, except with better MPG. Continue to save, then near the end of the year when the 2012s come out you will probably have %60 or more of your OTD price saved to outright pay it within a few months for the bike you want. I've done this for probably 3 bikes. I bought a beater that I ride for a year while saving to get one that I want, and just get it off the floor since I can just walk in and out in one day getting what I want instead of wasting weekends driving around looking at overpriced private seller bikes. Plus you can probably sell your pregen for what you paid for it, or a couple hundred less if you want it gone fast.

yes, i know its the sellers choice to be flexible about the price or not. and yea...ranting aint gonna get me anywhere...i am waiting....anywho, im just waiting on the guy on getting back to me on sunday about his bike. (the guy i mentioned in my hello thread). yes, my brother has a pregen...u really think he gonna let me use it?...lol...aint gonna happen..even he laughed about it. im set on gettin a new gen so gettin a pregen is out of the question...until then, i can just research more on the bike and dream about it

5K is too high for a used 250, regardless of what year it is. I looked at 3 250s in the past two weeks. 2 2010s and a 2011. I could have got a 2010 with under 3000 miles for $3000 but, I didnt have the cash in hand and someone else got it. The other 2010 was going for $3200 but the guy selling it had a problem getting the title. The 2011 was going for $3000 had about 5000 miles but I was too late. So if you want an 08 and up used 250R you have to check Craigslist every hour or so and have the cash in your hand when you look at the bike. Dont get the 01 SV thats on Craigslist right now, it looks a like he spray painted the frame red.

Nope, I didnt look at the Pearl Harbor one. I looked at 2 in town and one in Schofield. From my experience, 250s get posted on CL on the weekend, The last three I looked at were posted either Saturday or Sunday. You gotta be fast.

Your best bet is to pick up the silver 2004 that for sale right now. They are asking $2000 but you can probably get it for about $1600. Its a great bike to learn the basics on. Then in about 6 months you can probably sell it for the same price and pick up either a bigger bike or get a new 2012 250R.
