"new" ninja 250 owner in West Texas
Hi everybody!
Just got a clean looking 2005 250R a few weeks ago. It had been apparently sitting in a shed for at least 2 years, maybe 3... 2500 miles. After a bit of carb work, changing the dry-rotting original tires, fluid changes, etc., I got it running. Took it for a first real ride this evening... about 25 miles. Everything seems to be good. I normally ride a 2004 Yamaha FZ1, but this bike will be the wife's first bike... she'll be in the MSF course next weekend, and then I'll let her on this one. I have to say that the 29 hp is a bit thin compared to the 145 I'm used to, but this is a fun little bike to ride. here's a shot of the bike just after we brought it home. It's still looking a bit dirty and neglected, but it has shined up pretty nicely. Here, I think it's nursing on the FZ1... I'll have to get more pics soon... Found this site from a post on the ninja250forum... Good guys over there, but there's not much activity, and this site is set up similar to the FZ1OA site... a lot easier to navigate. - Steve |

Thanks everybody! I'll have to see if I can get both bikes washed up for pix... The fizzie needs an oil change today, and the 250 needs spark plugs... gonna have to go pick them up, though...

OK... no spark plugs until next weekend, but I did take it for a run yesterday. Seems to run pretty strong, and was still climbing at an indicated 95... The aerodynamics of the fairing are pretty good at speed... I was impressed there. It does get pushed around a bit more in the wind than the FZ1... but I would expect that. Pretty comfortable little bike!
Went out and washed them both today... here's a clean pic, and a shot of the FZ1 as well... just to balance things out... |

Hello and welcome. My bike used to look just like yours until I took off all the decals and painted the lower cowl and rims.
