Preparing my ninja for 3 weeks of sitting
Going out of country for 3 weeks and don't want to have problems with my fuel system when I get back. Is there a fuel additive that will help or do I need to drain my fuel tank? If I need to drain my fuel tank, can someone direct my to a diy thread?

For three weeks? I wouldn't do anything to it.

I posted this same question on another forum because I am going to be unable to ride for 4 weeks, starting tomorrow. I put 4.8 ounces of SeaFoam in the gas tank this evening.

3 weeks I wouldn't worry about. But make sure that you ride it a day or two before you leave so it's truly only sitting for 3 weeks. I try and ride mine once a month, and have never had an issue, even with the occasionally crappy california-blend fuel.
<geek on> I have a spreadsheet that I keep up to date with the last time I rode each motorcycle, last service, and expected next service, so when I see a bike hasn't been ridden in a few weeks I know to take care of it soon <geek off> I'm particularly careful about the ninjette, as it's the most likely to have issues if it is left sitting for an extended period.

I don't know how accurate this is, but people told me to leave the fuel off and run the bike until it dies if you are going to leave it sit for more than 2 weeks.

Not a bad idea, and I have done the same when I had a pre-gen, but the new-gen bikes do not have an "off" setting on the petcock.

Measure and add fuel stabilizer to gas tank, ride for a mile+. Your bike will be ready when you return.
