Why is she any more important than anyone else young that dies, such as the over 90 people in Norway?

No. If it turns out to be an overdose (most likely is), just like Ryan Dunn, she brought it upon herself.

Certainly sad for a person to die like that. But honestly, I could care less. Untold thousands died yesterday, innocent honorable people, many violently at the hands of evil men. Some may have even been wearing our Nation's uniform. To take time out of my day to feel sad for Amy Winehouse would be an insult to those folks.

+infinity to both, I have no sympathy for this people, just because they were famous we must assume is such a "tragic loss". They were both irresponsible idiots that brought it upon themselves, hand then their Darwin awards and move on.

It is also so sad how addiction to drugs can control a persons life and keep them from sharing their talents.

My 8 year old boy just asked about who Amy Winehouse was and how she died after seeing a report on TV. The report noted her history of drug use, and when I said she was a talented singer, he said it was dumb for people to risk their lives by using drugs. So I suppose Winehouse has done some good.

I have more remorse for Kurt Cobain, him actually having a good personality and hard life.
Respect for him and **** he went through.

How do you know that Amy didn't have a hard life and the **** she went through? Until you walk a mile in someone else's shoes you don't know what they have gone through or what drives them to drown their sorrows in drugs/alcohol.

What I DO know is that I have an addictive personality, and the brains and conviction to not ever do illegal drugs since I know doing said drugs would lead to addiction.

Some (most) people lack those.

+1, who is anyone to judge Amy Winehouse against someone else? Just because she didn't declare her life hardships doesn't mean she had none. Besides Kurt Cobain committed suicide, but in Winehouse's situation, there is no proof that it was anything other than an accident; apples and oranges. I feel no worse/better about her dying than anyone else though.

Ryan Dunn already did. I was thinking the same thing, though. Who is next? Ironically 3 people I know personally died in the last couple of weeks as well. It's weird how that stuff works out.

Not a huge fan, and certainly not surprised she died considering how she lived, but she was at least interesting. Unlike most of the prepackaged garbage that passes for pop stardom these days, it was refreshing to have someone with some edge who aimed for honesty. Debauched, drug addled honesty, but better than Justin Beiber or Katy Perry. From a column on Grantland today that sums up my general feelings:

Quote:
In the rotating cast of music icons, there will always be a space reserved for a staggering, strung-out girl who sings, with brio and aplomb, about her very bad problems. As such, it always felt as if the public wanted to watch her teeter on the edge of the ravine. Those very bad problems had to be structured around a tabloid narrative. Without the bad romance, the drugs, the eating disorders, and, most importantly, the photographic evidence of an unraveling, she might have just been what she was after the release of Frank — a talented girl singing old songs in a smoky contralto.

Despite the escalating body count and the recorded evidence, we will probably never know whether musicians need to live out their lives on ugly side of that ravine. Would Kurt Cobain have been better without the heroin? What about Hunter S. Thompson? Jack Kerouac? Billie Holiday? The story of Amy Winehouse included an epiphanic moment, in which the torrent of her relationship with Blake Fielder-Civil submarined her down into uncharted depths of rapture and depression. There, she found the inspiration for Back to Black, the 33 minutes that carried her into the international spotlight. Then, as the myth ultimately dictates (every debt must be paid), the same gyre that inspired her was also what took her life.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Winehouse

Read up her early life. Without her letting the public know, means it didn't happen to us. Therefore we are freely able to assume her childhood was fulfilling with no major complications.
If you were big into the music scene or had watched many of the documentaries and news articles about her it was the drug scene from the English rock era.

"Winehouse married on-off boyfriend Blake Fielder-Civil (born August 1978), a former video production assistant,[130][131] on 18 May 2007, in Miami, Florida. Fielder-Civil was a "dropout" of Bourne Grammar School, who moved to London at aged 16 from his native Lincolnshire.[17] In a June 2007 interview, Winehouse admitted she was sometimes violent towards him when she had been drinking, stating "if he says one thing I don't like then I'll chin him".[132] In August 2007, they were photographed, bloodied and bruised, in the streets of London after an alleged fight, although she contended her injuries were self-inflicted.[133] Equality campaigner Glenn Sacks criticised Winehouse for "bragging" about abusing her husband, noting how a male abuser would have been "locked up, stigmatized, and vilified".[134]"

There from wikipedia also states that she was violent and into the drug scene.

And I don't need to walk in someone Else's shoes. I know what it's like.

You know what it is like to be her? You're missing the point of the saying. Just because you know what a hard life is like, doesn't mean you know what hers was like. We all have problems, some more or less severe than others; but we don't all have the same things going on.

so you watched Tv shows and documentaries about her and read a wikipedia article (it was on the internet and TV, it must be true and unbiased ).

Just something to think about
