Sad but great day!!!!

Ok so I have been drooling over ninja 250's for about 8 months now and finally got up enough cash to get it and then I'm hit with a bi choice to make. My friend offered me his Suzuki gs500 with 5300 miles on it for $1500. I really want the ninja bad but I felt like that was a deal I couldn't pass up. So now I'm sad that I'm not officially one of u guys and don't have the ninja but happy Im riding. I'm thinking about selling the Gs 500 and get a ninja but not sure yet. I want to find out if I'd miss the power of the 500 so I'm looking for a 250 to test drive.

Yea! Look at me I wanted a 250 and ended up getting a 500 and I still participate in the forum! Glad you got a bike though, riding is one of the best things in the world! Is the GS naked or faired? I definitely love the power of my 500, it makes the highway a breeze and once school starts I'll be commuting on the highway every day where having that extra oomph comes in hand where the 250 would only be adequate, granted the ninja 500 has about 10-12 more hp in the top end over the GS500 the power bump will still be a nice advantage.

I think you're not the only person who has a different bike. Just be sure to ride very carefully on a larger bike. I mean, you should ride careful regardless, but understand larger bikes have more sensitive throttle. I hope you have taken an MSF. Some start on 400cc or 500cc. You can get the feel for those kind of bikes, and learn useful maneuvers.

I wouldn't pass up that deal myself. It's good to have friends like that.

What year is the bike? Congrats. And like you said, you can always sell it. Perhaps for more than $1500

Heck, my MSF course was on 500cc bikes. For me the Ninjette was a step down in power from what I learned on!

This is true! And buy extras too. This way, when a harley rider doesnt wave, you can go find his parked bike and put the stickers on his bike. He's practically inclined to wave after such kindness of you initiating them into the sport bike world.

Thanks for all the love guys. Its a 2007 with 5200 miles. I took the MSF class back in June and after that I rode a friends CBR 250 for a couple of weeks and then when my friend got the GS500 he let me ride it on the weekends so i got to get used to it before i brought it.

Just keep it! There's no way I'd give up a gs500 for a ninja. No offense against Kawasaki, I just like Suzuki more.
