Ten foot 1" diameter metal pole with some wheels and some 3/8" bolts and you're done.
MIGHT need some T bracing. Home depot job, no welding required. I wanna see some action like they force out of me in the wheelie section. Ok it's been fun for tonight chao nini

The fairings will crack, even if reinforced, basically guaranteed. All the epoxy, carbon fiber, etc.. in the world is not going to change that. If this were my project, I would focus on removing the fairings and welding up a crash cage from steel tube. Would be a fun excuse to get an old and cheap welder on Craigslist and learn how to weld. I really don't think anything else is going to cut it. |

I'm telling you man, it's steel or nothing if you're serious about this. Either learn to weld (you will have a blast doing that) or just put some frame sliders on, get rid of the easily broken stuff, possibly including some of the fairings, and try not to crash. |

Instead of making a cage, I would advise you to install "shields." After being weakened from a crash or two, you could divert power from the warp drive core to sustain them.

You just gave me an excellent idea for my stunt ninja. I believe I just might try and pull that off one day. Hell, frame's already bent. What damage could I do. Teach myself to weld bungs and wheelie bars. I like it.

Yes yes yes! Now you need some T bracing. Perhaps in this case "V" shape would be better. Something from the bottom of the bike extending to say about half of the pole on each side? I'm glad you can see my brain pictures! We just might get somewhere around here after all. [/QUOTE] Jiggles you are also going to need some sort of suspension the wheel for when the poles touch down I believe.. One with very minimal rebound. Otherwise something is gonna bend. =(

PS
I can't see any way this is going to work right. The pole may flip you and cause a highside. I better duck out before my ideas hurt someone. It's fun to ponder until you think of it that way. I need to focus on other things ATM, but I applaud you for trying something different and standing out. Just do it safely I just think you are getting into making too complex of a requirement. It will require a team of highly qualified and specialized professionals with a fair budget to make something like this. (see NASA,Mythbusters) It's gonna turn into physics and geometry. I'm open for the go-kart experiment.

They are the front accessory wires. You have another set of them on the right side of the bike behind the plastic cover by your knew. Fantastic feature that was left out of the new-gen bikes. You can use either pair to power a radar detector, GPS unit, radio, etc. They are already fused so you don't need to do anything other than connect them to any small 12v device and they are good to go.

Yup - or you could just strip the connectors off and use whatever type of connector you choose. More info on them here:
http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=23743 and can probably continue the discussion of them in that thread as needed.

Build your fairings out of dark matter. Problem solved. You can thank me later.
Seriously though, I'm very interested to see the final project. As long as the overall goal of safety is not lost, then I applaud someone who tackles the "impossible". |
