My baby....

I had just gotten back from a week in Hawaii and was itching to get on my bike, so I went for a little cruise to 7-11 to get some Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry. As I was coming around the side of the parking lot, a mustang just blazed off towards me, hit me and ran over the front of the bike. He admitted fault multiple times at the scene but he has not responded to any calls from insurance

Sheesh! Glad you're OK. That sucks about the bike.

Did you get the guy's license plate? If he's not responding to phone calls, maybe he gave you fake contact info?

Most 7-11s have security cameras outside. See if you can get the footage from them. If anything it would help your case.

No! They didn't have cherry

As for his not returning calls, the accident happened on a private lot so calling the cops wouldn't have done much in terms of filing a report but he said he didn't have his insurance card on him so I called them anyway. I'd imagine they verified all the info from both of us when we filled out the papers. I called my insurance company and I called his and they said they have him on record, he just hasn't responded to them yet. So I know he at least exists haha.

As far as injuries, I had all my gear on so I'm in tip-top shape. I imagine my Sidis saved me some hurting on my ankle but my left thumb is pretty sore, not sure why. It was kind of weird being hit because I didn't feel a thing. The impact itself and falling to the ground are kind of a blur and I don't really recall any of it happening but I do remember bouncing up immediately after hitting the ground and just lifting my bike off the ground by the handlebars (and then crying on the inside about the damage )

Sorry this happened. Calling the cops is always the best option even on a private lot because its hard to think straight when you've been in a wreck.

Don't forget to report your injured thumb to the insurance company. See a doctor about it. Even if its nothing, it will give you extra weight with the insurance company. The other guy must reimburse you for the doctor visit too.

Insurance companies are out to scam you, so be prepared for that.

Also, if your gear was damaged then don't forget to include that in the damages. Don't be afraid to go to small claims court to get fully reimbursed if you have to.

Just got a call back from Progressive (my insurance company) saying that they'd have to total the bike, which was pretty much expected given the damage to the front and the exhaust, but it's still sad to hear it officially. Geico (the other guy's insurance company) still hasn't made contact with their guy so I was going to just have mine handle it and then let them deal with the hassle of tracking down the other guy.

I've never had to actually deal with insurance before, so, is that a good idea or should I just wait for Geico to make contact with the other guy? I'd like to get back on a bike sooner rather than later but not if handling it this way is going to come back to bite me in the ass.

Sorry, to hear of your trouble. You must be in heart ache. Chin up though, it will all be better soon.

As for your insurance, I've never had to deal with any claims so I'm not familiar. But if the other party was insured and is ignored their calls, it might benefit you due to negligence. Keep us posted. Find out if this will impact your driving record since this is not an at-fault.

Haha seriously! All that trouble and they didn't even have what I went there to get in the first place

James, they already totaled the bike and paid out the claim. Currently in the process of looking for another bike, I think I've settled on a 2010 SE Green. No matter how many times I see it, it always surprises me how much more gorgeous the Kawasaki green is in person and I must say, it is growing on me.

I agree, the kawi green is probably my favorite and I wish more manufacturers had a similar color! I love my SE but a all green ninja would be even more awesome.

Sounds like you already have it settled, but if I'm not mistaken... Don't worry about Geico talking to them, that's their business.. What's important is that your insurance talks with their insurance. Well, actually, I take that back, they have to get his side of the story before the two insurance companies duke it out on deciding who is at fault.

None the less, I am surprised you didn't get an LEO.. In an accident (of any measure that involves insurance or something that is NOT your fault) call the cops.

Needless to say, I'm glad you're okay (apart from the thumb!). Sad about the pretty bike though

It's a shame that 2008 was the last year they made a full green bike =|

Yah, I ended up just letting Progressive pay me out and let them handle the claim with Geico and I did get a LEO! The guy didn't have his insurance card or vehicle registration on him so even if they couldn't file a report on the accident (because it was on private property) I called them in just so they could verify all his info.

If things go as planned I'll be picking up my Green Machine this weekend so :fingers crossed:

I, too, love the looks of all green 250Rs. I wish mine was all green also, but I don't mind the SE I bought. Hahah

Pictures must ensue!

And yah, that is so stupid the way things are on private property or at least private owned parking lots. A friend of mine got sandwiched as a car backed into him (out of a spot) when there was a car behind him. He ended up being at fault, which is so idiotic.

It's the 2010 green special edition, but the checker pattern has been removed. I must say, I really like the green . During it's virgin voyage back home, I was already almost cut off, but I'm pretty sure he saw the green and stopped.

When I sighted down them before I rode home from the accident they were at least a little bit tweaked. I wouldn't be surprised if they had been bent since the guy drove over them before crunching the plastic.

Nice Nice! I don't think anyone would go crazy on skyline, I heard they have a lot of cops in there. And also on any group ride you have to remember to ride your own ride. I read in a book somewhere that the best thing to do is to "not follow taillights" meaning let the one infront of you go ahead of you then ride your own ride, make your own line and stuff like that.
