Average cost for first trackday?
Well, once I have my bike paid off (which be rather soon), I will be able to attempt to finally get onto the track scene. Approximately how much will a track day cost? I already have leather track pants but I'd rather get a suit than get a jacket to zip to them, so other than a suit, back protector, and a pair of gauntlets (I already have boots, snell helmet etc.)...what costs am I going to be looking at?

You should really pick up a copy of the Road Racing World trackday directory. It has everything you need to know thoroughly of what you need and what to do.
Linky http://roadracingworld.com/magazine/...day-directory/ Minimally I would assume your trackday fees, gas, food and water. This is assuming you already have all your gear and bike prepped. Now this can get more elaborate quicky when you add a canopy for shade, chairs, tire warmers, generator, etc. |

To follow up the quality responces so far, I'd like to add my two cents.
Do not be intimidated by costs... buy used gear when ever possible: (Craigslist or Ebay), it is likely to get damaged anyway. Keep your cycle prep simple, don't worry about aftermarket parts, sticky tires, etc. Just ride the bike and have fun!!! I procrastinated going to the track for too long as I tried to set up my past cycle or get real nice riding gear. I would venture to guess that if you planned $150 for a trackday, plus $60+ for gas in the tow vehicle and your bike, plus $40 for food and drinks. $250 per a trackday would be a ballpark guess. Do not worry about tire warmers for your Ninja 250 unless you start racing (and it is cold), just take it easy the first lap or two. Set your sag height and have a fun day riding! |

Clint, where are you in Texas? The org I work for will give you free leather and boot rentals if it is your first trackday, along with some other deals. Shoot me a PM if you want some more info.

As for tires, PLEASE don't track on the stock tires, they're a recipe for disaster. I'm not sayin go all out on top of the line tires, just dont do stock. Once you have the gear and the bike your costs are: trackday org, gas there and back, 1 tank of gas for the bike, an oil change every 2-3 track days or miles, then food and lots of water for the day. Thats it, once you have the stuff its not so bad, ~$250 a day depending on track and distance. Oh yeah and crashing is expensive, i suggest against it. If you're in the south central gulfcoast area, Ride Smart and Fast Line offer half-off for first timers at track days. Also Ride Smart offers free leather rentals for first timers.

I only bend over and hold onto the table once a year at my proctologists'. Grew up using Moroso but the eldest sons crash/death on circuit ended that.
Father was never the same, even with another son. Makes me think of the Dunlops. |

Just rode H2R in San Marcos - perfect track for a 250 despite the surface being very bumpy. They just teamed up with Mazda and are looking to do a total rehaul, which should make it even better.

Well i can tell you what my first track day has cost me so far
125.00 for the track 80.00 for the leather guy to put a zipper in my jacket So far that is how far i have got, i have an oil change planned as well as switching to wetter water for collant so those costs are coming but are not just track day specific. the costs i have left are going to be a ramp and tie downs for my truck. Food, water and the like for the day. I cant wait and am quite excited and nervous at the same time lol. |
