I just read a lot and I've done a lot of things to my bike haha. The hardest part is taking the screws out off the carb caps. Especially if you don't have a JIS screwdriver. What exhaust did you end up getting??

What size JIS drivers does one need?

Don't know. I was one of those people who was like they can't be that different, I'll just use a phillips. It was a pain, but I managed without stripping them. That was the first time to shim my needles. The second time (when I rejetted) I totally stripped them, but luckily my jet kit came with replacement hex bolts. So no more of those JIS things (on the carb at least).

Local hardware store. I imagine you could get them most anywhere (Lowes, Home Depot, etc), but you'll probably have to buy a bag of like 50 haha

Any one up for a ride on Sunday? Weather looks OK, no rain at least - just a few clouds. How about meeting at 10am?

I'm missing some hardware so my bike is still dry at the moment. Won't be able to ride tomorrow.

I was able to do valves today and get it all back together except fairings.

It was fun but, I got a little bit lost - I wanted to try using my GPS to follow the Google Map route that I downloaded but, that didn't work out exactly like I expected.

I wound up on RT517 in Vernon which was definitely the highlight of the trip... hilly, twisty with a good road surface. The roads near the Wanaque Reservoir were also fun but, the road surface was pretty bumpy and patched so I wasn't able to really build any confidence when going into a turn.

I think a fun trip would be to follow RT517 from start to finish, then get over to RT519 somehow for the ride home.

Probably going to try the route you suggested, itsa250bro, on Friday. 517 in tewskbury up to Vernon and then over to 519 and back down to phillipsburg. Hopefully the roads dry up and I'll let you know how it goes.

Bringing this thread back from the dead to offer my A* SP-1 gloves for sale. I used them for one season (I bought Held Phantoms) and had one low speed crash in them (I landed on my shoulder and there's no damage to the gloves).

If any of your guys don't have gauntlet gloves, I'd suggest picking these up.

If someone from this thread buys them $30 picked up or $30 + shipping if I need to ship.

Here's the glove from the side I went down on -- just a little dirt.

I can provide more pictures if you want to see something specific.

Also, Justin, I know you said awhile back you wanted my smoked Puig double bubble. If you still want it, shoot me a PM with your address and I'll ship it to you for the cost of you paying for my share of the lunch the next group ride we do.

nycsteve - no rides planned at the moment but check back often because you never know when one will pop up - speaking for myself, riding in the winter is still lots of fun but, the weather is a little bit more unpredictable - so it's harder to "plan" a ride - it's more of an inspiration kind of thing.

That being said, you don't have to wait for someone else to post ride - if you want to plan one - please feel free to post it here

Hope everyone has been well and able to sneak in some rides on the nicer days. I know I'm dying for spring to come around, been tinkering with the bike over the past months. Hopefully the weather only gets better and we can get some March group rides and coordinate some days track days!

That's really amazing that you mentioned track days. I was just looking at this site which offers classes at NJMP. Looks like it would be lots of fun, and not too intimidating for a noob like myself.

I think my helmet/gloves/boot are OK but, I'll need to rent some leathers which I haven't looked into - cost wise. But, I would really be into doing that.

I know on previous group rides a few of us were interested in track days so if we could somehow all go to the same event, that'd be a ton of fun. Most of the clubs I researched offer (or require) a class for first timers class. I had been leaning towards Team Promotion (http://www.teampromotion.com) because they seem to offer the most track day events at NJMP. Although today while I was at a Washington Cycle Works one of the employees mentioned he rides with Absolute Cycle (http://www.absolutecycle.com/raceshop/). So there's a few good options available!

I know I will most definitely be visiting the track this season at least once, but I haven't made a decision on which track group to join at this point.

*EDIT* Also NESBA (http://www.nesba.com/) is another organization which offers track days. I know a few people in my office building who track through them.

Jealous! Its too cold in the mornings to ride to work and by time I'm home its dark. Why are all the weekdays nice and then weekends chilly Hopefully, like Rollin said, we can get group rides started back up next month when it'll be 50+ consistently. Can't wait to use my new helmet

Lol, I had the day off so I took advantage of the ninja. Definitely feels good to be back riding again.

Also, this just came in yesterday.

Hey fellas. Just wanted to introduce myself. I just bought an '08 Ninja 250R a couple weeks ago and its great to see so many fellow 250Rs in JC. I'm at the end of Warren Street, so just around the corner from you folks at Liberty Towers.

I'm a complete n00b... waiting to take my MSF BasicRider class in April over @ Farleigh Dickinson U. You guys will prob see me around practicing after I take the class. Hope to get some experience in and venture with you guys on these rides. They look incredibly fun.

Any suggestions on practice locations? Only place I can think of w/ a big parking lot is the Target over in Newport.
