HID projectors/halos for cheap?

Who would be interested? I wanted to gauge interest. Not selling yet, nor am I sure if we will be (I keep saying we but its mostly my buddy)

Basically we had an idea for a lower priced retro fit. I cant give much details yet (its not really a secret we just dont know if itll work) since we want to do it and test it first. But if we were able to offer full retro fits with Halos (a decent amount of colors) all for around $350ish and demon eyes for around $400ish would anyone be interested?

I know itll be around $300-400. Im sure if it is successful he would do a group buy. like 5 people $300 or something like that?

idk just gauging interest. Let me know what you guys think.

Note* not selling anything yet please dont move to marketplace.

Depends on how big the projectors are and what the fit would be like inside the housing. I would be interested though.

as always, pictures when you get something together Only reason I didn't do projectors and HID's this winter is because the lens isn't just clear. There's texture on the inside that I decided would scatter light and defeat the purpose of a projector

My only delima with things like this, is the fact that I'd have to ship my headlight (My bike is mostly my main transportation through the week). Other wise I'd be down. You guys should (if you wanted) try to make a kit of some sort. Kinda plug and play, maybe we'd only have to take out the housing, replace it, then set up thew wires while verything else is already put together? idk. then again i guess that would defeat the purpose. *sigh* lol. how long estimated wait would it be to get it to and from would you think?

I'd be interested, but unsure if I want to but more money into my bike. I also had made plans to cut base plates for projectors out of acrylic on a laser cutter if I did plan on doing a retro for that nice professional finish. But who knows maybe I'll feel more giving when I get a job

Just to clarify, this would include everything that's need for the retrofit?

He would be doing the retrofit, it wouldnt be a kit.

also if needed we may have an extra housing. you ship us one and we have the one done for you and ship it as soon as we receive yours or something..

Not sure on the estimated wait time, still on experimental stages.

Which kind of projectors are you thinking of using?

Aesthetically, I think projectors look better on bikes with separated headlights, but if you dont' cheap out and use a high-quality projector, I'm sure it'd be a lighting upgrade

For what it's worth, I went with a cheap generic projector when doing my retrofit. If I had to do it over again, I'd be spending the extra $100 to get a better projector

it wouldnt be a kit it would be a retro fit. While he could sell a kit it most likely wouldnt be worth it for either party.

right now we are waiting to just get a donor newgen headllight. let me know if you guys find one.

I'm wondering what you guys would be including for your price. I used this kit, which is all quality stuff and it's almost at what you're planning to sell it for.

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=237

Are you planning to just sell the projectors that you retrofitted into a housing for them, and the customer will have to worry about his own harness/bulbs/ballasts? Are you planning on including all that stuff for them? If so, unless you cheap out on parts, I don't see you making any money. Considering the amount of time it took me to make mine. Granted the hardest part of doing it was making that mounting plate and making it fit correctly. If you guys got your R&D down for that plate and had a bunch of them pre cut for you, it would cut down on a lot of time.

I think even if you just mocked up a mounting plate for that kit and had some nice ones made somewhere, you could just sell those. If I had an option to buy that plate for another $50 with the holes for projectors/mounting bracket/screws already in it and it fit like it should, I definitely would have bought that.

wed be retro fitting our head light assembly to fit projectors from another headlight. Hed buy the set. then retro fit them into our headlight assemblys while adding new bulbs, halos, etc.

He does it with other lights all the time. I have the donor projectors at my house, so again we just need a donor newgen ninja assembly. Im working on finding one..

and again our estimated selling price is 350-$400. so we will see.

So you would or would not be including ballasts for the bulbs and a plug and play harness that will work on our bike for the price?

ballasts and bulbs yes.

plug and play harness. yes most likely.

again this in the infancy stages of development, still not sure if it is cost effective yet. However the guy doing it has been doing this stuff for awhile. If anyone can do it he can.

Hey, just trying to iron out details for ya, not shoot you down. More power to you guys. It's definitely a PITA project for most Ninjette owners to undertake. If you guys can offer a good option that's hassle free, I say go for it.

So. I definitely can part with my headlight housing for a while since I am primarily riding my v-strom anyways. But if I donate it for your project, I do want it back, preferably with the donor projectors in there
Plus, 2 of the mounting tabs are cracked, not sure you'd really want it permanently anyways. But I believe the lens housing is unscratched so it would still work great for product photos and whatnot.

I've done my own projector install, it's not all that hard. Definitely was a fun project. But I guess my idea of fun isn't shared among others.
