Delayed throttle response
I'm experiencing delayed throttle response on my 2011 Ninja 250R. What normally causes this? what do I need to check or fix?
The bike is in neutral and is idling at 1,500 RPM. I twist the throttle suddenly halfway and the engine revs up delayed about 1.5 sec. Also I've notice that the RPM goes down slower than normal and hangs a bit more near 2000 RPM then goes down to idle speed. Any tips from you guys? Thanks in advance |

Do you have the carbed or FI version of the bike? Is this after it is warmed up for a little while, or immediately after you start it?

I see, so the lag is normal on the carb type.
No I don't have any mods on the intake but my exhaust system is Leo Vince. The slow RPM return may be caused by poor carb balancing? I haven't had my bike carb synced since I bought it 8 months ago. I never adjusted the intake and exhaust valves either. My ODO reading is around 15k+ |

So, you have a slip-on. Did you shim the needles or get a rejet? If not, you should. It will cut on throttle lag and fill in the rpm flat spots. Though you will still have some kind of throttle lag because of the carbs
