Question Jetting Question

I have a question for you guys/gals. I talked to DynoJet today and was told that there must be something wrong with my bike to have to be set the way it is for it to run. So my jetting goes like this: OE 112 main jets, 38 pilot jet, DJ needle @ clip 5, mixture screws 4 turns out, slides drilled by previous owner to 7/64 per DJ kit. Mods done custom 2-1 exhaust with Danmoto slip-on and DB killer, 6" UniFilter Pods, R6 throttle tube. My problem I'm having now is this while cruising around between 4k-7k I have a slight surge with stuttering. Its not bad but I can feel it and would like to have it smoother. I'm hopping that maybe the #40 pilot jet might be the cure. The bike idles good now has great pull all the way to 13.5k-14k. Any suggestions I'm all ears. Thanks Jason

At what throttle position?
If it's consistent across all throttle inputs, it could also be a valve adjustment issue. Only if it's only occuring at very little throttle inputs, the pilot jet might make a difference.

Not really sure as I have the R6 throttle tube but its usually while cruising so I would say maybe 1/4 throttle. It was suggested that I go up one more clip on the needle but 6 just seems high, thats all the way up.

are your pods secured onto your carbs, carbs onto boots, boots onto engine?

Check for leaks.

Already done all that. Carbs are clean, all jets and holes clean, diaframs are good in both the slides and the cruise enricher, all hoses are secure and leak free. The bike runs great has great pull all the way to redline. Before the 112 mains I was getting some decel popping its gone now. Midrange got better with the increase in needle height. Idle is pretty smooth with no bog off idle. Floats are at 16mm and there is no bogging as you roll on the throttle or open it fast. I hope that going to the PJ#40 and maybe even go up more on the needle will help. Just not sure where to go from here now.

hmmm this might be because of the drilled slides. That's just my hypothesis though. That might explain the needle height though. You still getting that stutter at 6k cruising?

Yeah its not alot but I just want to smooth things out that last little bit. DJ said that the drilled slides would have nothing to do with it.

4 turns out on idle mix means you need bigger pilot.

Well looks like the #40 pilot jets took care of most of the problem now just a little fine tuning is all thats left and man does the bike run good. I wish I could find a dyno to tune it somemore. Thanks everyone for all your help on all this.
