Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.

So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say.

@CynicalC: that's a horrible depressing poem! The author should say "I" not "you", because it's not that way for everyone. My auntie is in her 50s and she's full of life and growing as a person every day. My last yoga teacher was 60 and he was more supple, upbeat and healthy than a lot of younger people I know.

Poem? Shame on you!

Link to original page on YouTube.

And Waters' writing in Dark Side is downright cheery compared to what was to come with Animals and The Wall. He would have made Orwell cringe.

Simple.....when you're 25 and you lowside through a fast sweeper you pick your bike up, go home and inspect the damage

When you're 45 and you lowside through a fast sweeper you pick your bike up, go home and and lay on a heating pad for a week...

I have to disagree, Drac, I was falling at 18, I am falling at 50 and I hope I will fall at 90 and still go back on the saddle the same day.

Absolutely nothing wrong with being young and wild or old and cautious; it is exactly like Akima stated above.

There's actually a man who comes into the petrol station I work in nearly everyday. He's really funny and does nothing but take the piss out of himself, dance around the forecourt and challenge me to drag races against his 1.2 Renault Clio! lol

Long story short, I figured I'd ID him for a scratch card, so he gave me his driving license and that's when I learned that he was 96!
I said to him
"This has got to be fake, you don't look a day older than 65!"
He then replied
"your only as old as the company you keep, and my wife's 64!"
I've never seen a bigger grin in my life, what a guy!

I like ur story! I have found that for a lot of things in life, you get to choose your perspective. You can either choose a positive perspective which serves your mental health better and leads you down a path to a more content life and greater confidence, or you can choose a negative perspective and find yourself [metaphorically] target fixating on trees and lamp-posts.

I know there are all manor of bad situations in life where a simple perspective change can't solve your problem, but for everything else, it's worth choosing to be happy, to survive and to flourish.

So why are all you old F@rts picking on the young guy. If he says he was making a left turn through an intersection going 100 mph in front of a cop who are you to say he didn't? Were you there? Although I do have an idea why the cop suddenly turned his lights on and headed toward the biker.

Personally, I rather enjoy the wide left turn intersections. I can usually breeze right through one at 45 - 50 mph as long as nobody is in front of me and there are no U-turning cages in the way. I've even learned how to do it without scraping my pegs.

If the policeman had whacked you, you would have been arrested for
obstructing justice, interfereing with a pursuit, dangerous driving, an illegal turn, running a red light ( they do have red light on top of the cruiser...riight), failing to signal a lane change and getting your teeth on the street.
