he said i will lose performance if i go to a 150 rear tire.

is that true and anyone that has a 150 did u like the diffrence from stock..

different brans of tire vary in size just a little. i slapped on some bridgestone bt battlax tires rear 140/70/17 front the same as the stock. check out jc motors they got a good price on those tires. if you got up to 150 in the back you will have to mod the bike for it to fit.

I got the 150/60/17 Michelin Pilot and it handles a lot better and the fitment is great. I haven't got any changes on fuel efficiency either. Go for it and it makes it look great too

I just put a 150/70/17 . direct replacement for the original 130/70/17 Dunlop. I did have to buy a 4.5 rim for that. The fittament wast very tight. I did have to make some room with the swing arm, and mod the chain cover. I don't see a 150 work very safe like with the stock rim when you see how much bigger the tire ( 150) is compared to the 130. Maybe 140 but the shop guy wasn't going to do it until I told him it was a 4.5 rim untead of the 3.5. But that is just my humble opinion.

"Fittament?"

How much did you spend on the 4.5" rim?

I keep on coming across this word, I think that is to say " how it fits" . I paid about $400. 00 with shipping. Best thing I did if I was going to put a new tire that was bigger. That rear looks sweet.

I know. I've heard it too. It's just a mispronounced version of "fitment" with the exact same meaning. Just like "length, width, and heigth." I'm just trying to prevent it from going full-circle into written lexicon and subsequently read/spoken by even more people even more sure that it's a word.

What did you have to do to the swing arm so that the larger rim would fit?

I had to cut a small piece of the welds on the right inside of the swingarm. Then you had to file it smooth, so that the chance of damaging the tire is lessen. About inch and a half. I really did not see any other way to make that work. To the left the only problem was the chain cover. I put it in a clamp and heated it with a heat gun. Let it cool it worked great.
