Cleaning carbs. Need some help please!

I pulled the carbs on my ninja to check for build-up and possible clogged jets. The outer components are quite messy and I would love to clean them up a bit as well as the inner components (jets, floats, etc.). My questions lie in the cleaning process.

Correct me if I am wrong.
For the cleaning process, I will need:
A cleaner to soak the carbs in like a bath (please recommend)
A cleaner to spray the parts with (please recommend)
Compressed air
Fine bristle brush of some sort

Can I clean the hoses with regular water, or should I just soak those also?
If I were to fill a container with cleaning fluid and soak the carbs, which parts should be removed?
How long does it take for carb cleaner to dry (so I can reinstall the carbs) or do I have to manually dry?

Sorry if these questions are noobish
Thanks!

Berryman's Chem Dip. Its the size of paint can. Very good to have. I know I recommended this to forum member dino74 to clean his carbs and he reported great success:

Supposedly Pinesol works to dip the whole carb in, otherwise it's really easy taking it all apart.

You don't want to get many cleaners on the rubber diaphragms, theyre fragile and expensive... And float needles have a rubber tip on them too that if it's nicked or damaged, fuel could run out. Both essentially pop right out, just be careful with everything.

Normal carb cleaner evaporates fast and takes varnish out of bowls pretty well with a little brushing. It's what I always used on lawnmower carbs

For all those pesky idle circuits and jets, spray them with a spray can of carb cleaner, then hit them with compressed air. Just beware the little cloud of crud that will blow out with the first blast of air.
