Cool When did you get your ninja first serviced?

Hi guys,

Today I have just put my little ninja 250 in for its first service and it got me wondering. How many Kilometers or Miles had you done before you put it in? Did you stick to the 1000k/600mile guide line or go earlier / later? I personally have done 899 k's exactly or roughly 558 miles!

This might be a boring topic but you never know!

The first service is to check that everything is tightened to spec & hasn't worked loose, and to flush out any metal that's abraded down as the engine is run in. So yeah that 600 mile service is important

No doubt about it.. I have never understood though why people change their oil half a dozen times before the first service? I was told by the dealer specifically to not as the factory oil is designed to help with breaking in.

I changed the oil myself at just over 100 miles and actually just dropped it off today for the 600 mile service with around 780 miles.

The service writer told me he likes to joke with the guys that call up with like 598 miles worried about getting the bike before hitting 600 miles. When they ask "what happens if I go over", he likes to tell them " you messed up, now you have to buy a new bike" or other variations.

He thought it very funny and clever.

Mine was around 800 miles. I was in the middle of a road trip when mine hit 600. I didn't take the bike over 9k rpm either the entire time.
