Whoa! That doesn't look good!
I definitely do not have that issue! And I have been commuting with my bike, 90 miles a day, for at least 2-3 days a week for the past month!

From what I've found my bike is too lean but yours may be too rich. Unless it was just the can itself. I'm curious as to what Danmoto will tell you since I just finished talking with them about this same thing. |

I've been having this weird issue when starting my bike. I have the same exhaust. I usually only ride 1day a week or every other week, so it may be because of that. My problem is, when I go to start my bike, choke off, I'll click the starter and my bike will backfire. Just a loud boom. No ignition, nothing. So I'll click it again and it starts right up. But it's done that to me a couple times. Anyone know what it could be? Thanks.

You know, now that I think of it... My can is slightly yellow before the hangar, and normal behind it. But my bike runs a little rich. I've run it for several thousand miles, and it's definitely not that bad. I also have the baffle 'in' there.

I installed my baffle today and noticed there is one small area that is browning, currently that area is pointed inward toward the swingarm but if it gets worse I will be contacting Danmoto about it. I wouldnt mind trying out that new XG-1 exhaust |

I think they released the XG-1 the day I got to pick out a metal can, but I wasn't sure what it'd look like on my bike so I just went with the titanium GP. It looks pretty good though. |

Thought i might add to this thread... does anyone have danmotos number? I called the one off the paypal receipt and no answer.
Also, i noticed my can is turning brown and warping right where the baffle deflects the exhaust. I dont think it is smoking yet, but i would say a few more rides and the can will be toast. I have not messed with any shimming yet, so im going to say im definitely not rich (although i can start without choke). I want to upgrade to the Jisu and keep my baffle, taking it out im sure would eliminate my burning can issues, but id rather go to a steal exhaust. |

I installed mine yesterday and so far I am impressed with the sound. The vid posted by xSean13 does not capture the sound from the exhaust. I have shimmed with 2 washers and removed the snorkel as well. |

Incredibly highly reccomended for $139.99 shipped.
Takes 10 minutes to install, without any instructions. Get THE BAFFLE. It makes the rumbling much deeper and smooth. It's INCREDIBLY loud, ESPECIALLY after you shim your carb needles and or remove your snorkel. Worse part is in NJ it took almost TWO weeks off shipping time from Nevada. Only wish I went with Jisu, (for cosmetics) |

yup I have the same thing but not as bad yet. Im pretty sure that's from the baffle forcing the gas towards the exhaust walls and causing a heat build up. I will be removing my baffle today and see if it goes away. I've only ridden maybe 300km with it.

I was thinking that as well and tried leaving the baffle out. I did it with a brand new replacement. It started discoloring but didn't burn. I couldn't stand it without the baffle though, every time I passed a car the exhaust note would bounce off of the metal and ring in my ear pretty bad. I put the baffle in and it seemed fine for a little while. It's now burnt again though.

So I emailed the guy and he told me that normally I'd need to send it back but because of the high shipping cost he told me to smash it with a hammer and send him a picture. He'll consider it returned and send me a new one. Sounds like a good deal to me but I don't want to ride with a my stock exhaust for the next couple of weeks. Im reaching out to you guys who have had this issue and maybe have an image of the Carbon GP exhaust smashed up?

I know this thread is for the Carbon exhaust burn issue but has anyone with a baffled JISU exhaust checked the color of the can behind the hanger? In the light, you can see my can is slightly discolored from black to a very faint orangish color. Looks like the baffle is kind of burning it or really heating it up from the inside... Anyone else seen this and is it bad? Exhaust and bike still run fine. Danmoto needs to redesign their baffles...

I've noticed my can is turning yellow around the bracket to i also have the carbon Gp with baffle.
I've had my can since March 15 2012. Hmmm idk I'm kinda bummed out about this. I've been keeping an eye on it and the yellow is progressing. I wonder if DanMoto will replace it for a Jisu..:/ |

Here's mine. This is after a 40 minute highway ride today. The color does not fade away once the bike cools down either. The issue has to be the design of the baffle like someone said earlier in this thread. It directs the hot exhaust fumes straight into the exhaust walls. I'll probably drill a hole into the top of the baffle so it'll take some of the load off of the other holes.

Mine is exactly like EthioKnight, a slight browning which started without the baffle put in. I put the baffle in and no spread so far(knock on wood)
I have read that the Jisu fixes this issue but judging by YeeaaBoii's pics maybe not. |

Danmoto got back to me and told me it was a "surface treatment issue". They assured me the exhaust wouldn't turn into molten lava and melt off my bike. I was pretty convinced I was about to see the exhaust can start to drip because it actually looks like it's getting red hot. They gave me two options. Option #1: Send it back to them, have them "resurface it" and then send it back to me... Free of charge of course. That will probably take months. Option #2: Take it to a local shop and have them resurface it, and Danmoto will refund me for whatever they charge to do that. I'm not sure how smoothly option #2 will go but I think that's what I'm going to go for... This is a perfect example of you get what you pay for.

After I went through 3 carbon cans I went with the titanium GP for another $30 (just the price difference). So far it's great. If you had your eye on something else they sell might as well ask about it or just a replacement. |
