37,45,48,50, or 51mm clip ons

i searched (quick search) but a search either way and didnt see anything about the diffence in clip ons. Ive been trying to see if i get some but i just dont know what size they are suppose to be when i go look at them and they have all the different sizes...so my question is?
do you guys have 37,45,48,50, or 51mm? whats the difference? or am i an idiot and those sizes depend on bike? and if all the sizes are for our bike then which one do you have and why?

Also you have to get the ones that have a rise on the bar for it to clear the bodywork and not hit.

Those might work installed under the top triple, they will definitely work above the top triple. See my post in the farkle section for pics of the clip ons we bought from ebay to put on my wifes '09. She loves them.

I purchased a set like the ones in the link you posted, I have been out of town the last few weeks but will be home in the next few days. Who needs sleep? Ill be in the garage installing new parts as soon as we pull in! I will let you know what I think of them once they are on, although I know there are other members here that have them.

The one you listed would require you lower the front end to get the forks high enough to get the clamp on, which would change the geometry of the bike and would alter the way the bike turns, brakes etc.

If you don't mind paying a little more pick up either the Driven or the Woodcrafts. Plenty of DIY explanations on how to install both of those, and they're kinda the tried and true but the racers on the forum.

Success!!

After three hours of tinkering, I finally got the clipons installed!!

I tried taking pictures of the process but of course the camera on my phone is having issues so I have none to post; I will take pictures of it this weekend when I pick up the lens for my camera.

All in all it was a fairly simple process, if I had to do it again I would highly recommend you invest in a 22mm socket if you do not have one. Of the three 300+ piece Husky socket sets the biggest I could find was a 21mm socket, gotta love it when tools grow legs...Anyway, I used an adjustable crescent wrench and had no issues, it was just a little hard to get a good angle on that gigantic bolt, eventually it worked. Secondly pay attention when taking the controls on either side off, pieces fell out of the choke mechanism and the throttle wasn't fun to piece back together. Third, make sure you are well rested and not over excited about the install, if it werent for these two things it probably would have gone much smoother and taken a lot less time! I am very happy with the mod, the bike is lowered a little in the front so it has a much more aggressive look/feel than before paired with the clipons.

I have a ~60 mile ride tomorrow morning mostly on the highway, I will report back what I think! I am sure it will be nothing less than excellent. Next is installing the new shock and ordering adjustable rear sets, but until then, goodnight everybody!
