Ok, I think I'm finally figuring things out
With bike selection.
I think I have it down to two bikes right now. Of course if they have a smoking deal on a 1000, I may go that route, but for now, this is my list: The colors are most likely the colors I'd get. Triumph 675 ZX6R What do you all think?

Stay true to Kawasaki. I like the looks of the ZX-6R the best.

Both good choices. I would say comes down to gut feel, which one feels better to you. How are the dealers near you for both brands? I would guess if Kawi dealer isn't that good you can find another one without going to far, but what if Triumph dealer isn't that good, how far to nearest Triumph dealer.

Both are pretty sweet, I like the look of the triumph, the Ninja (hate to say it) looks a little bulky, I like a compact bike my self. Take them for a good spin and see what you like the most ... and what ever is good value for money. Pretty tight decision though ...

And if you rarely go to the dealer then it might not even be an issue. Both great picks. Don't know much about the Triumph but I know the Japanese bikes are rock solid. But if the Triumph lights your fire it is definitely a sweet looking bike.

Ouch hard decision. I'm not a huge fan of the front end of the ninja, but performance wise it's supposed to be the cat's meow of the 600 class. I love triumph and the 675 motor is supposed to be phenomenal as well, and it's definitely smaller than the ninja (I've sat on both). I say toss a coin....can't lose either way!

That triple is a unique and sweet sound. The Kaw has great reviews. One of the mags just did a 600 shootout with both bikes (and others) both on the track and on the road.

I definitely like the Triumph better. I have had that exact picture as the background on my school computer for months. People have been bringing up some good points though: service, reliability, etc.
If you can ride them, I'd just get which ever bike feels better.

Sorry to say this on a kawi forum, but I love the Triumph. Everyone here only has good things to say about them and the best thing is that they're rare and not overpopulated like gsxrs etc.
But if you're set to go with the 6r, get the monster edition!!! |

The gold on black is soooooo gorgeous. I love the Triumph's scheme. The '09 Yamaha R6 has the the same scheme and is my other fav on the wish list. I would definitely take the whole service part into consideration as it could prove to be a potential PITA...

I love my little Kawi but that street Triple is very cool and personally I think it looks more refined in the details. I've heard all good about it. I found they sit pretty high but if you are a tall guy it won't be a problem. Good luck with your decision, it's a tough one!

i recommend the triumph... my friend has the 06 675... and its a great bike... im not saying the ZX-6 isnt... but i hate that they changed from an underseat exhaust to the side exhaust... but its completely up to you... but if i had the money and was able to id go for the 675.... just my 2 cents!!! =)

Both are top of the line but I would suggest taking one for a spin if possible to really see which one you like more.

what's the weight difference?
I think kawakasi's bikes are the lightest compare to others in the same class. Suzuki, i think, is the heaviest. |

I like my Kawasaki, but I'm not going to lie. My next bike most likely won't be of the same brand. I'd go for a Triumph. They are just two completely different bikes, hard to compare.

I am thinking about not only the looks, but the starting price of the bike, parts costs and accessibility of the parts. I am leaning more and more towards the ZX6R just because it is a more mass produced bike. That means that parts would be easier to find, and most likely a bit cheaper. I also have to think about working on it. Since I'm a part time mechanic (I say that just because I work on all my own stuff), I need to be able to work on it as well. Right now I think the 6R has the edge, but I'll need to research the 675 some more.

I'm sure the Triumph bike is just as reliable, but in terms of a "mechanical familiarity" stand point, the Ninja would probably be your best bet. The european bikes may have some quirky design features that may make working on the 675 a little more interesting. I doubt it'll be as finicky as a ducati, but let's face it...the Triumph is british haha. Good luck with your research....I fully expect to see pictures of your new bike! |

Okay, I'm a newbie (both to riding and to the forum) but I had to weigh in on this one... I won't pretend to know all of the technical/mechanical specs of either bike, but I will say that the Triumph truly is one sweet ride! My boyfriend bought a 2008 Triumph Street Triple (675) last year (and graciously donated the Ninja to me) and so far I really haven't heard any complaints about it. The only problem he ran into was finding one (it send us on a multi-state search). It seems like everywhere we go someone stops to check it out, make comments or ask questions so if you enjoy the attention, by all means, go with the Triumph! If not, you may want to stick with the Kawi, but either way, make sure you have a local dealer that can handle maintenance before you buy as they seem to be few and far between compared to others!

you cant go wrong with a Daytona however all the reviewers are giving the 09zx6 great praises, apparently kawi answered all of the previous gens problems and came out with a real winner this year, its knocking Honda's crown off finally.

That's a tough decision, if you're talking about 2009 models. I've read reviews for each and they've both been improved for this year. Basically, all the complaints from last year are gone now, for both.
The only serious issue to check is dealer support, like Greg was saying. That shouldn't be a show stopper, but you should keep it in mind.

Triumph dealers are rated higher than Kawi dealers for customer satisfaction (by J. D. Powers). I found this in that obscure section called motorcycle news.

I really like the Triumph - especailly the gold parts. Also, it wouldn't need an immediate fender chop like the 6R would. What was Kawi thinking when they designed those rear fenders???

Magazine reviews aren't everything, but it's nice to hear when they validate our own choices. And the June issue of Sport Rider compared all the 2009 top middleweights (the 600's from all 4 Japanese firms, + the Triumph 675). The Kawi ZX-6R clobbered the field. They felt it was superior to the rest of the group in both the track portion of the test and the street part of the test.
