Square Enix has FF7 for the PC for sale. Only $9.99.

That is the best game I have ever played. I am going to download it this weekend. I lost the discs to my PS1 (I was playing it on my PS2), so this would be better than trying to track down an old PS1 copy via the net.

darn tootin awesome. the graphics on the pc version are a step up as well. i went and got a psp and downloaded it and FFIX for the same price so now i can geek on the go. they got VI too but i aint got an extra 9.99 to spare :P

get the legend of dragoon. personally i didnt like turn based RPGs until i played this and was like wow this is pretty awesome. went to play FF and man its just sooo boring in comparison. imo

dude legen of dragoon i smore engaging earlier in the game but 9 and 7 have to of the most epic turn based story lines ever. if you want a really good game that was a staple ps one rpg then give Star Ocean: The Second Story. it was more action oriented in combat and head mroe depth then the other rpgs.

Uhm, there was already a PC version, basically this is just a re re re release that utilizes a higher directx idk which one though. Also if you have a ps3, you can download it for $9.99. Also if you have a computer you can download it for free with an emulator

BAH! i don't see how games like that lose their replay value. IMO if a game is truly great, then issues like dated graphics are just trivial. i still think the materia system is one of the best things ever.

True. I am playing Diablo 2 right now, and that sucker definitely was not known for great graphics. However, the game is still a blast to play.

Graphics are not everything. Mainly related to console based systems, but games today could easily sacrifice graphics for content. They are trying to become a PC too much. To me the game makers are focusing on graphics more than content. I'd rather have slightly diminished graphics and a ton more content, than stellar graphics and less content.

So with that said, I will be playing FF7 again.

I actually agree completely with the bit about graphics, but not everyone feels that way. Having said that they're plenty of options. Braid, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Portal(1&2), Bastion, Fez, Sword and Sworcery etc.

FF7 is the best game ever. Materia system rocked and has yet to be truly beaten. Limits rocked, story rocked, sephiroth rocked, everything rocked rocked lol

P.S. Red XIII was my fave!

Edit: i just realized, Sylar from Heroes was probably modeled after Sephiroth! lol

Totally agree about the materia. FF7 had IMO the best fight sequences. I was always sad when the next FF came out and didn't have a materia like system

i knew materia was a one timer but it made the game so fun to play. i remember setting up yuffies revenge(basically a first attack combined with a slash all and a **** ton of hp regens) and then rubber banding my controller so i would engage and own in random battles while i wasnt even there had to have the rising sun first tho i think

+1 to both. FF7 was one of the greatest games ever.

-8 and 9 were pretty good too. 10-12 were okay but 13 just f****** the whole series up. I won't even play the 2nd 13 as the first one was so bad and I own EVERY Final Fantasy game since the first including the original gameboy ones.

yea 13 was so stupidly linear and easy. I heard that 13-2 was a huge improvement but never picked it up. Really I just want an FF7 remake

An HD re-release or something might work. Like they did with 10. I never played the HD 10 but I did play shadow of the colossus, pretty well done.

Yeah, just a FF7 remake...same characters, insanely modern graphics, but all with the same story line. I'm sure that people would buy it...at least the FF7 lovers would.

And that's a ****load of folks! An HD remake would be great, but a new-gen would be absolutely amazing to play.

They will probably never remake/remaster this game unless square enix is about to go bankrupt (never) and does it on a last ditch effort.

Wada(president of square) has specifically addressed a FF7 remake. Which was apparently talked about multiple times within the company. His reasoning against doing it is the fact that they have yet to outdo FF7. So a remake would signify the end of the FF series.

All to say based on the current direction of the series you're probably right, they'd have to be pretty desperate. So I guess the 10 remaster will have to suffice.

Staring at a wall would be an improvement over 13. Didn't they just remake FF7 for download? Or did they just change the resolution and directx and call it that?

Well the download is just a cleaned up version, but the graphic styles are still the same block design that they had back when it was cutting edge.

On a side note, I have tried and tried, several unsuccessful attempts actually, to play X2 and 13 and some other FF series games. I just cannot get into it. I get about 1/4 of the way through the game and lose interest. I liked the game setup on 7, I loved how you configured your characters, I just loved everything about it. SquareEnix had a gem on their hands, then they had to change the engine. I did play FF8, but was largely disappointed that I had to relearn the game all over again. They should have just kept the winning formula for 8.

The cool thing about FF games is that they are always different so you never get the same old thing. The really ****** thing about FF games is that none of them are like FF7

Yeah that's definitely not what I want. Repetitive sequels get lame real fast, Gears 3, COD 3, Uncharted 3 etc.

The junction system in 8 was fine, and a lot of people prefer 8s story to 7s. I enjoyed 9 and 10 both as well. There are also people who hate any FF post 6 and the Jobs system it and previous FFs employed.

I agree. If you repeat it for too long, it does lose the nice feeling associated with a new game. However, changing it every single game doesn't help either. I think if something worked, they could have at least kept it for one more game. Going more than that would be too far, but for a single game, it would work.

I complain about 8, but honestly it is second in the FF series line for me. That game was good.

I never really got into 8 or 9 but I did like 10 alot. Then the next one I picked up was 13 which I didn't like at first, then I really liked it, then I get super ****ing bored of it.

NO IT WON'T! after the demo for the ps3 launch of a Totally revamped ff7, simply going hd is not an option. must have full graphical rework. IMO of course because i like playing the un hd version so sharpening it up wont be enough to interest me. if the whole gam elooked like advent children however...

FF7 was so overhyped and to me marked the beginning of the end for the entire series. I want to play a game, not watch 10 minute cinemas every 20 minutes. And it just got worse after that. At least 7 was fun to play when I wasn't being forced to watch a ridiculously overly long cinema sequence that was done just because they could. Same thing with the damn spells.

FF3 was king for me. So-so graphics, even for its day, but the gameplay was great, and despite not having cinemas, the story (if you read it) was so much better and less convoluted than that Cloud-Aerith-Sephiroth garbage. Kefka is a true villian.
