Take your seat off, get a bolt and nut, screw it into the threadings on the bracket that holds the seat on. Problem solved.

http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Can_I_l...on_the_bike%3F

This article says to not ride around with the helmet hanging off the bike, but I haven't had any issues with doing that yet.

Other option is to get a Muzzy and get rid of the can on the left side.

I have the same thought about the helmet and muffler. My 04 makes the helmet lean on the muffler. so i either leave it on the handle bars when i go places, or just take it with me

Your pregen muffler will not melt your helmet. It does not stay hot enough to do so once your bike is off. The only time I've ever damaged the plastic on a helmet was when I rode with a spare helmet in my helmet lock and it melted part of the side of my spare helmet's visor.

Edit: I may actually do the bolt mod for my spare helmet, thanks for the link @choneofakind

It gets pretty hot. I have had it melt a few spots around the rim of my chin bar. It definitely will melt helmets/stickers/any rubber on a helmet that it comes in contact with. I've got melted spots on 2 helmets to prove it.

worse than stealing would be someonte taking a piss inside your helmet! :S

My Speed & Strength helmet doesn't have a D-ring for me to attach it like in the pics.

I have seen regular backpacks made with an outer pouch designed to carry the helmet, though. I'd imagine it would look weird have a full backpack with a helmet - you'd probably look like a camel!

Went to a biker bar with a buddy a few weeks ago. Left my helmet unlocked on the back seat... thought process was: 1) no wanna be thug is gunna steal something from a biker bar, and no harley rider would even want it. It was still with the bike an hour later!

It should! Thats the same D-ring that you loop the other side of the strap through to keep your helmet on your head.

It won't. Maybe I'll take a pic to better show/explain...

Oh - perfect, ssgear.com shows a pic of it - hopefully I can put the link here correctly:

oh... that's like the ratcheting things on my biking cleats. I've never seen that on a helmet before.

You can always carry a bicycle lock in a backpack and just run that through the grab bar and the chin bar on your helmet. Might be an option for you

This is great and all, but what about the pre-gen? I know there is a lock outside of the bike by the lock for the seat, but the helmet hits the muffler and is hard to get the lock through the D-ring(s).

What I do is run a short bike lock (get a good one that is pretty much bombproof) and I set the helmet on my gas tank, run the cable through the forks under the giant metal triangle in the middle of the handlebars, and then I run it through the big opening of the helmet out the visor area and put the locking part of the bike lock inside the helmet for added security. If someone really wants to try and get that off, they have to snap the helmet, take off my handlebar assembly + mess with the forks, or chainsaw my cable lock. All of which would attract some attention, remember, thieves are lazy (thats why they steal) so make it difficult for them and chances are, you won't get your **** stolen.

edit: I have a pregen as welll
