What if your bike got stolen???
I have seen many vids on youtube of bikes being stolen off the streets. I have also heard it from friends and fellow riders.
What would you do if you came outside and your bike was gone? Ride hard but ride safe |

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my bike go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

Luckily I dont live in or near any bad neighborhoods so I rest assured my bike would never get stolen out of my own garage. I plan on installing a GPS security system on my bike in the summer to take care of any unexpected inconveniences.

I don't think thieves go to the ****** neighborhoods to steal stuff when they know the "nicer" neighborhoods have stuff worth stealing.

There are virtually no reports of stolen vehicles in my neighborhood, let alone people breaking into garages to steal motorcycles.

The Lojack security is pretty neat. It cost around $600 installed, so you have to decide whether or not its worth it. But in case you did have lojack and you caught that sunova bike thief, i would take out my jack and beat the **** out of him. Bike thiefs should all be thrown into Getmo.

Insurance pays retail market value (plus tax), not replacement cost. So, if you owe less than market value you'll have some cash left to put down on new bike.
Example: You owe $2000 but market value is $3300, you get $3300 plus taxes. So, $2000 goes to pay off what you owe. Whats left is yours to do what you want, most will put it towards their new bike. But, if you owe $4300 and market value is $3300, you still only get $3300 plus taxes. YOU are responsible to pay off the balance owed. |

That would be comprehensive.. it's like $8 more a year that my liability insurance. Caveat... they'll only pay you fair market value for your bike, less your deductible. Better than a sharp stick in the eye though.

That's what GAP insurance is for. You should always get gap insurance when you buy a new bike. It'll loose 1/2 it's value the instant you ride it off the lot.

I don't think LoJack is worth it for a 250, is it?
I think it costs like $600 to get it installed, then another monthly fee to keep it active. My husband had lojack on his Hayabusa (after having 2 bikes stolen previously) and sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. He would forget his fob at home and ride to work then realize he doesn't have it nor did lojack call (they're supposed to call both our cell phones, the house phones, send out emails to both of us as well.) And sometimes we'd realize that it took over an hour to even get the notification from lojack (if the bike was stolen it'd be long-gone by then.) Plus some police departments don't support lojack anyways. I don't know what kind of insurance coverage you have to have to get money for your bike if it was stolen. I don't think my husband got anything for either of his stolen bikes, I think they paid off the remaining balance (both were financed.) Not sure how it works if your bike was lien free.
