Smart move passing on that bike, there are plenty of deals that will come around as the weather gets nicer (or it may already be nice down there). Are you stuck on the cbr?

I was thinking the same thing... Are you looking only for Hondas? I'm a firm believer that all of the Japanese bikes are good machines. The most important thing is finding the right bike with previous owners who aren't idiots. Maintenance goes a long way on these bikes...

I'd be looking for CBRs, R6s, 636s, and Gixxers... Find the cleanest bike that you can for your 4 grand - it's not the bike you're looking to keep forever anyways.

Lol, I'm definitely considering it. I just know that by next riding season it'll have at least 16k miles on it and will lost considerable value. I'm also coming up on the point to where it'll need new tires & a valve adjustment, so that would take $600 at least. So from a financial standpoint, selling it now while I can get the max out of it may be best. I have considered getting another used ninja 250 with almost no miles on it.

Pretty much. I've sat on all the other bikes aside from the R6s/R6r and the CBR felt the best. It doesn't mean I'm not looking for other possibilities, but ideally the CBR is what I'd want. I've seen quite a few R6s (not plural, the model number) for sale around 4k but they just don't really appeal as much to me as the CBR; from watching snowcat's youtube videos and the issues he has with his and the negative reviews I've read, I haven't been looking into those.

I liked the FZ6 a lot, actually, but the newer ones are out of my price range and the older ones are mainly naked except for the ugly front fairing.

Makes sense.

My 1st 600 was an 03 R6 (which became the R6s in 06... but you're aware already). If I could pick a 600 I'd probably pick an 06+ R6r but I think they're still probably 5g's like you said.

I didn't have any problems with my Yamaha. It was a lot of fun. I bought it at 6500mi (it was the previous owner's track bike), put another 10k miles on it... and my friend bought it and is still riding it.

Maybe hold onto that 250 for a little while longer... save a little more, and get out of the ugly body styles of the early to mid 2000s...

Regardless... I hope you find a great CBR or whatever bike you ultimately choose. They can all be great or suck... it's the nature of the beast with used race machines. :/

That's a deal for sure... Now that you say that I'm going to be looking for R6R's for under 4gs... damn you!!!

Yeah if I saw that kind of deal I'd jump on it in a heartbeat, lol.

I may expand my budget and borrow a little bit from my dad to where I could spend $5k, then that would open me up to the R6r, as I've seen a few around that price, and i've seen some 2007 CBR 600rr bikes floating around the 5k-5.5k price range. My dad just doesn't want me owing any money since the total costs for my flight labs at school will be around 40k

Unfortunately, being in the south, there aren't many used bikes in great shape; either rednecks get them and ride them hard and trash them, or some gangster wannabes chrome them out and put all that crap on them.

Yea, the only reason I got a r6r for cheap is because I was willing to travel. I live in KY but the bike came from St. Louis.

That's not that bad of a drive. I've been looking in like a 250-300 mile radius in all directions of Nashville. Fortunately the weather is finally starting to get nice, so I've got a feeling there will be a lot of bikes coming into the market in the next couple of weeks.

How many miles did the R6 have on it when you got it?

So true

It's hard finding a nice 600 around us. At least the Nashville area usually has more options than here.
