Do you have an alarm?
Just wondering who here has an alarm on your bike. I just got a Gorilla 8017 and couldn't see myself without one now. It's such a nice piece of mind kind of thing. Anyways, let me know!

I have been interested in one in the past, just curious as how long it would take to drain our small batteries.
As for now, my alarm is full insurance coverage and knowing how much I paid for the bike. |

Disc Alarm. Seems like a nice, portable solution.

I have a disc alarm, not point in an alarm on these bikes that aren't worth a lot.

They usually wont touch it anymore and walk away promptly. Quote:
I looked into them and all sorts of other alarms/deterrents. A lot of disclocks kind of looked cheesy to me, but would also be effective. I cannot see that there is alarm anywhere on my bike. Looks just like before. It will have a flashing LED soon, didn't have a good drill bit when I installed the alarm. I think there is Still my baby. |

Have a Xena wheel lock with alarm - works great and haven't had any problems.

if you consider a xena alarmed disc lock, then yes.
always on the bike when it's parked, on the rear wheel. |

I have a full on Gorilla alarm. Only on the ZX though. Insurance says if I didn't have an alarm, they wouldn't cover it for theft....

no.
only liability insurance, too (no comp., collision, theft, etc.) This is not an expensive machine. If it's stolen or crashed, that's on me. Although those alarm disc locks look interesting . . . |

I must be poor. So many people claimin these are cheap machines and if they get stolen, oh well. 3500 bucks my bike cost me, that's write a lot of money to me.
How do you find the range on the 2 way pager redgeneral? |

I'm fully covered for everything, except for the bike.
I bought mine for $2500. I only insure things that I would have a difficult financial time replacing. $2500 isn't it. I wouldn't really be "oh well" if it got stolen - of course, that would suck. But the odds of that happening are very, very low. And you don't have to be a billionaire to easily absorb a $2500 loss. I've never had insurance for damage or loss on any bike I've owned in the past 25 years. I've saved at least $2500 over that time in insurance premiums, probably double or triple that, and have never had a loss. So even if something were to happen, I'm ahead of the game. |

OH! And please be careful. When you plug the battery back on the alarm can be armed immediately and hitting the box will set off the alarm, without the seats on the alarm is REALLY loud, it actually hurt my ear for a few hours. That's all if the alarm is under your seat of course, if it's mounted in the front of the bike somewhere don't worry about it.

if mine gets stolen, oh well.
if i catch them. i will use all means to make them deceased. plus it would be my fault for leaving ingition on a simple switch in plain sight not needing a key

I have a cheapy alarm till I can get a better one with paging. I live in a Ghetto apartment so I have a disc lock on the front , bike club on the rear and is cabled to a pole..bike also has a cover on it so just messing with the cover alone will set off the alarm and a potential thief will be greeted with one of many lethal uses of instant justice within seconds.

Alright so the pager works pretty well, I'm in an office building with the bike parked in the basement, and it will transmit no issues. Though I've found it's fairly sensitive to strong wind. The wind wasn't strong enough to move or tip over the bike, but I guess it was enough to trip the shock sensor on the alarm.
A little anoying because I then had to turn off the alarm while I was in the building or have it constantly go off for an hour straight. |
