Mounting gopro on gas tank.
Hi I was just wondering how you guys mount your gopro to your gas tank? I used the sticky mount on the gas tank but I am having trouble getting the camera up high enough so its looking down towards the road but has all the controls in the video as well. Just curious what you guys use?

I mount my go pro underneath the windshield. Put the settings so the camera flips the video since its upside down. I just used the adhesive mount. Had it on for months through rain, washing, and still just as strong.

I use the suction cup mount on the gas tank without any issues. Just one thing to note though. The further away you get from a solid mounting point (the gas tank in this case), the more vibration you're going to see in your video.

I used to have my camera mounted between the windshield and headlight on my 250 with the sticky tape. It held up really well and I like the footage it took, it didn't seem to vibrate too much from what I could tell.

A cool shot to do from time to time is suction mount low on side of fairing, shows how much the fork travels up and down.

Hey Jiggles, which mount are you using there?? Just got a GoPro silver and I like that camera angle.

That's a great idea Jiggles.
My wind screen is tinted so I can't really mounted it behind the wind screen, but I never thought about mounting it in front of the wind screen... Nice. I think I may just do that. How does the footage look? I was also looking at possibly mounting it upside down under the headlights/cowling above the front fender but was afraid it may hit the fender in a bump or something. edit Btw @Jiggles, do you have a closeup shot of your mount? I have the curved adhesive pad but I don't see how the hell you got it to mount in that perpendicular position.

Here's what it looks like when mounted in front of the windscreen same as jiggles.
Note the audio in this video is from the rear camera because the front camera on the windscreen has way to much wind noise. |

Here's an example of how not to mount the GoPro to the windscreen.

@rojoracing53 thanks!
I am still a little lost though... The side mount has the Go Pro on its side.. How are you getting it to do a 90 degree turn like that? A joint adapter?

I highly do NOT suggest mounting the GoPro on the gas tank. The vibrations from a 250 (and possibly the 300) on the gas tank will cause the video to jitter so much to the point where it's unusable. (How do I know this? I had to throw away an hour's worth of footage because of that.)
You would be better served by mounting the GoPro somewhere on your body, such as your helmet, or with their optional body strap.

I have done the tank mount with the suction cup, but it shakes a little and gets in the way in full tuck. The fork mount is a nice option with the roll bar mount.
The suction cup is really remarkable for strength. I mounted it on to the outside of a helicopter and it stayed put. |

You sure you just didn't use too many of those gopro mounting connectors? 2 or more little connecting arms and it will get shaky, no matter what you mount it to. |
