Question AFM Racers please help me out.

So I am currently frustrated with trying to figure out wtf to race in AFM.

What I am looking to do.

Race 250's

Be competitive.( I was going to run Superbike come to find guys can run TZR250's so wtf is the point...I want to have fun and all but I want to be on even ground.)

I have 3 Pre-Gens so I understand that I might just have to sell them and buy a New-Gen track Bike.

1. Can I be competitive in any class with a Pre-Gen?

2. If the answer is no to the question above would Afm 250 Prod. be my best choice or is there other bikes that would allow me to compete in 250 Superbike?(Other than the 2-stroke because people want like 10grand)

Fact: I am working with about 3-4 Grand just for the bike. (If the bike isn't in this price range then it won't be happening)

3.Do track bikes usually only come up after the season is over?

I have only seen 3 come up that were worth grabbing in the last 6 months.

4. Any good places to look besides the Craigslist here and ebay?

Everyone's input is greatly appreciated and I looked forward to seeing you all on the track hopefully for at least August and on.

I can't answer all your questions, but I can give you a sense of what I've seen over the past two years. I've seen a few old-gen 250s, but they aren't competitive. The grid is deep enough that you will certainly find a good race (even in 250 Superbike and 500 Twins), but a podium is probably out of reach. The newer bikes can carry so much corner speed, and I think the rules leave you at a disadvantage in terms of wheel radius.

If you bring anything faster than a Ninja 250 to 250 Superbike, you have a good chance at a podium. In 250 Superbike and 500 Twins there are usually just a couple of riders bringing fast bikes (that can also ride them). There are so many production 250s at AFM events filling all the classes they can, that that's all you need for some good racing.

Also, if you're a novice, just run a 250. It's rare to see a non-stock-250 running in any of the novice classes that a Ninja 250 can run in.

Wesley, if $3-4k is your price range, I may be able to hook you up with a very well sorted out GenII 250. It will however, be closer, if not slightly over your price range. However, I believe out of the box you would have something that could run up front and you could look at yourself to get more out of a lap time.

Would love to have you and any one else come out and play with us. As others will testify, we will help you out before and after a race, but during the race we are there to compete.

Heck, I have even towed people around who ended up beating me later that day....friggin Rexbo has no respect for a proper host lol No the kid rode good, but to beat up on a 50 year old jeez.....

Sorry for the late response my Gmail loves to send ninjette stuff to the spam folder. Let me know on that 250 if it is still up for grabs depending if it is in my price range or not. Otherwise I can save some as I am working full time now.

Well shoots I wanna get out there and have some fun. Sounds like a blast! Thanks very much for the response it is greatly appreciated!
