09 ER6n, 7k mi for $3300?

So first of all I apologize if this isn't the right sub-forum to be posting this. But I saw this deal and if I can get a good consensus on it I'd like to move on it.

Craigslist link - http://elpaso.en.craigslist.org/mcy/3939147803.html

I already asked my moto-guru and waiting on his reply. I'm not in the city but I'm sure I can have the guru check out the bike for me and make the purchase so its waiting for me when I get back.

I know of the seller and understand that he takes care of his bikes fairly well so not sure what else to consider.

Thanks for the replies.

That looks like a good price. I wish it was closer to me and I'd sell my Ninjette and pick this up!.

That being said I really have no idea about this model so hopefully somebody with more experience with it will chime in.

It's a good bike

I've got one, and find it a good upgrade from the 250, especially at that price. I paid $3,500 for mine, with 8,000 miles, in 2011. I like the performance and appearance. I particularly like the low exhaust and the sculptural look of the swing arm ends and the brake disks.

Valve clearance doesn't have to be checked until 15,000 miles. The only problem I've had with mine was a worn chain and a bad radiator cap.

Check out this write-up and build: http://www.motorcyclistcafe.com/foru...Kawasaki-ER-6N

415 lbs, about 60 hp, fuel-injected, comfortable, highway-capable and cheap to insure, so it's a good deal.

I've kept mine stock, except for Venhill brake lines, Sport Bars and bar-end mirrors. I'm 6'2", so the lower bars work better for me.

The Kaw 650 twin is a great engine, but I'd say the weak point in the bike's design is the suspension, which suffers from cheap components, giving it a harsh ride with poor damping. Nonetheless, I like mine and intend to keep it.

I had one and it was a pretty nice bike. I do have to say that I sold because I have a bad back and the straight sit up position and suspension rattled me quite a bit. Just wanted to point this out. The 250 is slightly more angled forward position-wise. I attached the 2 ergonomic examples for my height at 6'1". http://cycle-ergo.com/

If you have clip-ons on your 250 it will feel even more straight up sitting wise. I didn't care for it to be honest. I find sport bike clip-ons far more comfortable with the more extreme forward lean.

But this is just me and my bad back talking here. The bike itself is great and the engine is torque heavy which is great. I have no problems with the bike other than it didn't work with my back very well. And that seems like a great price, I'd get it if you like it for sure.

How bad is the suspension? I intend on riding two up a lot and so it means a lot to me. It's mostly going to be a commuter bike and will sometimes see the track.

Thanks for the replies.

The problem is that the rear spring is stiff, so it's actually better with a passenger. Even solo, it's not awful, just not as good as a bike with a better-quality shock. The stiff spring will help at the track, of course.

That is a good price on this model. They are going for $4500 or so for the 2009-2011 models and up used around here. This will be my next bike, hope by November I can snag one for this price. I prefer the 2009 model and up especially the dash of the 2011 models too. I also like how they separated the passenger seat in the newer version.

Excuse me, but is Kawasaki still selling this model in the US? All I see is the ugly Versys on their US site.

The only ER-6N sold in the US is the 2009 model in candy plasma blue.

Thanks! I can't fathom the corporate stupidity of changing a great bike into something much uglier...

And then, some of the coolest designs never even make it to the US: CBR600f or Kawi W800

What a shame!
