KEY WEST @Sipper' @BlueJeepYJ @ally99 and anyone else contemplating the Key West trip.
I have been planning a ride to Key West for a while. My plan uses interstates as little as possible but of course that makes for a longer trip. My plans are as follows (I have a very detailed route but here is an overview): DAY1: Atlanta to Tampa / 525 miles / 9 hours of riding (no interstates) DAY2: Tampa to Key West / 440 miles / 8 hours of riding (no interstates) DAY3: NO RIDING - JUST ENJOY KEY WEST DAY4: Key West to Ormond Beach, FL / 450 miles / 8 hours of riding (some interstates) DAY5: Ormond Beach, FL to Atlanta, GA / 440 miles / 8 hours of riding (little interstate) ???QUESTION IS WHEN???? ***PICS ARE FOR INCENTIVE PURPOSES HAHAHAHA!*** |

That sure looks good with what the weather has been like here of late. Not too cold this weekend but rain again.

YESSS! Early to mid-June gets my vote before the unbearable July heat arrives.
I'm wondering though, there is a chance after all that riding, I may decide to stay down there an extra day. No pressure for all of you to do the same as I'm fine and dandy doing things on my own, but if anyone else is intrigued by the idea of 2 days, let me know. I'm sure I'll take a bit of a detour on the way back since I won't be going to Atlanta. Otherwise, the route looks awesome! I'm so excited!

I was hoping for a 'less interstate' route. Good job. Cannot wait for this trip, and yes, I will stay a couple days also!
My only question, How's the key lime pie down there? |

Ok folks, its time to knock the dust off and come out of hibernation and start planning a ride. Lets plan Saturday, January 25th for a winter 2014 kickoff ride. How does that work for everybody?? This will be an exciting year, trip to Key West and at least one track day! Lets do it!

I have the summer off so the amount of days IN Key West or anywhere else for that matter don't matter to me. One suggestion/though I had was since we would be getting into Key West semi early on DAY2, we would have time to explore and enjoy DAY2 there and then DAY3 would be a full day in Key West and maybe another full day at Coco Beach or Daytona or Savannah or somewhere else on the way back where there might be some cool roads or scenery.
JUST WONDERING: I know the summer would be fun but just curious if anybody would be up for possibly doing this Spring Break...leaving Sunday April 6 and coming back April 11 or 12? Weather pending of course! |

My Spring Break is the week before, so that won't work for me.

I could go the first week. I guess July is an option too. The weather might be a bit hotter, but let's make it work so that the most folks can go.

If Key West happens in June and my current project goes accoring to plan then I'll be there. You guys just plan and if I can make it then I will. Sucks I won't be able to make the 1/25 kickoff.
Does anyone want to brave the cold and go to bike night at Cycle Gear Roswell this Wednesday night? |

Right... I don't have heated gear nor the cold tolerance to be out on a bike in this weather, I don't hardly even like riding in a cage in these temps

I rode to school one day last week...a dark, 35 degree morning with no heated gear. All was fine except for my fingers. I wanted to amputate those bitches for like 2 hours after arriving at school. They HURT!

Obviously windchill is a factor but I have decided that 43 degrees is the lowest I can enjoy myself in --- 42 and under and I am MISERABLE!! ((It took alot of MISERABLE days to figure that out baaahahahaha!!)) For me its my face/neck/throat...I have tried everything and I still get too cold in that area.
