Forget the bike, you have a great corner for practicing turns (I noticed the sign in the background).

Thanks everyone.
Yup, dropped on the left while it was in the first owner's DRIVEWAY at a stand-still. The driveway was sloped so it slid a little bit ...doh Haha CC, that corner is dangerous.. it's a blind decreasing radius corner that's way too narrow for two way traffic.. soccer moms bomb through it all the time taking up both "lanes" - I exit through the other side... but yeah, the first couple days, all I did was practice in my neighborhood doing tight turns, and other slow speed manuevers. |

What's up with the strange displacement? I've seen bikes marketed as 600 or 650 but whats up with 636?

With competition from Honda's CBR600F4i, Suzuki's GSX-R600, and Yamaha's YZF-R6 getting more aggressive, Kawasaki decided to make an unusual move for the 2003 model year. They increased the capacity of the traditional 600 cc (37 cu in) motor to 636 cc (38.8 cu in). For riders who needed bikes for displacement-restricted racing, Kawasaki also made available a limited production 599 cc (36.6 cu in) version called the Ninja ZX-6RR, but the 636 cc (38.8 cu in) ZX-6R would be their main mass production middleweight sport bike.

Beautiful bike! I've been looking at the 636 as my next bike, but I'd probably get either orange or green. Yours looks awesome though!

It is a very light bike! The one I test rode was amazingly light and agile. It is still quite a bit more difficult to turn than the 250, but that's to be expected. Biggest problem for me was that it's about 3 inches taller! Hehehe..... For short people like me, that doesn't work out too well.
Hey Arthur! Send some of those beautiful prices this way!!!!

Ive seen the difference in power on paper, but how does that jump in power feel, if the 250r was your first bike, would you say that riding it prepared you pretty well to handle the 636, I'm thinking about getting one for my next bike, sometime early next year, as long as I can afford it.

Hm, yup, that's what the specs say.. although some mags have reported 370ish lb dry, I don't know where they're getting that weight from.
I don't know how to explain it, it just "feels" light.. and I've been pushing this bike uphill, downhill (my driveway has a massive slope) with NO issues.. it feels the same as my 250R. The seat height is taller so I can't sit on it and wheel around the bike anymore, I have to jump off and manually push/pull it around and it's very manageable. Maybe it's a lower center of gravity thing? The way the bike carries its weight? I dunno, it just feels light all around. |
