Fair point, I've never been snowboarding but I'd love to try... think it's too late this spring or is there one more snow day left in MD?

there probably is another snow day coming up with how predictable MD weather is. The ski resorts are all closed for the spring though, they closed up about a month ago. This year's season was a few weeks longer than normal too due to the weather

Sorry I couldnt make it out haha. My work recently informed my crew that they needed volunteers to take cuts in workhours. I volunteered to to take half-days every Friday, they agreed, but today was the only Friday I couldn't do it haha.
Hope it was a good ride! We'll have to organize something else this weekend or next week.

It's okay, I'm sure there will be more rides. It was a lot colder than I was hoping for today, but we did about 50 miles on some nice country roads..
It was good to meet another Ninjette member!! |

The pictures turned out well
It was a good ride, I even managed to get back in time for work (walked in 5min late in a place where you aren't late until 15min after your shift starts) The pace was on the slower side but I cant complain because the view was fantastic, especially that golf course we passed. Also I forgot to ask, what kind of tank bag is that? I've been looking into getting one because of how convenient they are. |

Haha I was wondering if you made it back in time...
Those are nice roads up there. Nicer when it's warm and sunny and there isn't wind or cars in front of you. I was riding at the pace I'd normally ride at, so it's good to know it's on the slower side for group rides. I think I'd rather follow than lead any faster pace. http://www.revzilla.com/product/icon-primer-tank-bag It's this one, I got it off a buddy for $20. Really useful, also doubles as a pillow on the highway |

I expected to be late as I got onto 95 and saw how slow traffic was going. A string of "aggressive lane changes" got me through traffic pretty quickly though
oh cool, that's one of the ones that doubles as a backpack. I think I'll get the larger one though so it'll fit my books/full set of clothing for the east coast ninjetters rally in may In a group ride the best pace to go is the pace where you're most comfortable regardless of if you're leading or following, a lot of crashes happen when people ride outside of their comfort zone just to keep up with someone else who probably doesn't realize that the person behind them is riding past their limits. |

Strategic lane positioning?
It does double as a backpack but I've never used the straps, I just carry it awkwardly.. And yeah this bag won't really fit much, it's good for a bunch of smaller items and for tools but there's no way I could fit a change of clothes or even one sweater. When's that rally?? I like that last part.. I agree... And I don't like when people don't care about the comfort zones of the people they're riding with. But I did ride last week with a group that set a pace that pushed me, in the way that I saw the rider in front of me go around turns faster than I would, but I was like 'if he survived, I can too...' so it actually helped me be a little more brave about leaning more. But I hate those 'oh ****' moments, like once I was following a friend on his zx14 and he took an exit ramp a lot faster than I would, and I stood my bike up and looked at the guard rail and braked and while I was doing that, my little voice said 'WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!' ride your own ride..... I learned from that.. luckily nothing bad happened and I haven't had one of those moments since.. lol |

Good to know, I'll go for the bigger icon tankbag then and get a smaller one for canyon carving.
I was lucky in a way with group rides, I was brought into them with a group of harleys. The whole point of a cruiser group ride is to sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenery. By the time I did a group ride with some sport bikes I already had a skill set that made me comfortable with the faster pace. the rally is the deals gap meetup may 16-20, which is conveniently right after my finals https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=169076 after that my next major ride is a set of track weekends in july, the second of which I get to meet csmith12 & choneofakind at mid-Ohio |

I know this is short notice, but College Park Tuning is happening this Sunday, April 27. Had a small group take a ride last year. This time no pit stops to pick people up. Leaving the Gaithersburg area between 10 and 11am, take the highway down to Beltsville and enjoy a ride through the Agriculutral Research Center into the forest reserve which spits us out 5 minutes from the show.
We have a pair of 250s, a 500, FZ6R, a Ninja 650 confirmed for the ride. Anyone?

April 26 Appalachian Trail
I'm meeting up with a friend of mine tomorrow for a group ride with the Virginia Sport Riders on meetup.com. It'll start at 9:30 am in Alexandria.
There are some track guys who are going who will keep it fast. Probably too fast. But there should be a separate slow group. I'll be in the back with her Ducati. So ninjettes are welcome! I've never ridden with this meetup group before but I have ridden with her and her friends. Should be a fun ride. The weather should be ideal too. Sign up details are on their meetup page. |

If anyone wants a set of S20s, track take offs, let me know. I did about 6 track days with them last year. They should be good for a few thousand miles. No wear in the middle at all, just the sides. 110 fr and 150/60 rear. Selling the set for $100.

Long story short, it got hit by a car when it was parked, and the steering lock bent the tab on the frame. Handlebar was bent and right muffler is making smoke and smells like burning. Leaking oil too. Still going thru the insurance process but I went to my shop w/pics and he said he's gonna write an estimate that will total it. I was gonna buy it back as salvage to sell cheap to a friend as a track bike but with the recently discovered leak and exhaust problem I don't think he'll want it. I'm very very sad and I cannot afford a new bike for many months. |

I live in Bethesda. I park my bike on the street, legally. I don't have a garage and my driveway is gravel that 2 other cars in my house use.
People drive horribly here. I'm honestly surprised it hasn't happened sooner. But also surprised at the damage it caused. People drive really big cars (although this was a small car), are impatient and distracted... Bethesda is about 2 miles from the DC (northwest) border. |

Wow, sorry to hear about your 250. Just when the weather is in that "perfect" zone for riding too.
You've picked up a lot of knowledge with your first 2 ninjettes. Getting another one back on the road cheaply will be quick and easy for you. There seems to be an endless supply of these bikes and parts in the DC/Baltimore area. For example: There might be a usable motor in these two posts (as long as you feel comfortable not asking questions). http://baltimore.craigslist.org/mpo/4441023233.html http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...437250515.html And this complete 250 just came up tonight. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/m...446852834.html I don't have a truck, but I do have a crappy minivan that should fit a ninjette with some (maybe lots) of heavy lifting. Just let me know if you need help. |
