New England riding is great in the spring

Boston to New Haven and back today.

Coastal route.

Weather was outstanding. 65 - warm sun, cool air.

68 miles to the gallon. I really did not think this milage was possible.

Hope you are all out there.

Did you get a clam pizza at Frank Pepe's in New Haven or get a burger at Louis' Lunch? There are a few better roads just north of 95 if you rode Post Road all day. Rhode Island has beautiful roads too.

good suggestions cc

unfortunately, no - did not get to those spots and did not take any photos.

but i am heading down again for a meeting in a week. i definitely have to check out your suggestions.

also, i appreciate any nice roads suggestions between boston and ny (including new haven). i have to make the run to nyc and new haven for meetings with some regularity.

i decided i will take the bike and and enjoy the ride.

the mpg was so astoundingly good - even at 75-80 mph. i was surprised. i didn't know the bike was that fuel efficient (stock 06 pregen).

It depends on how much time you have. Backroads take a lot long but are much more enjoyable.

Merritt Parkway to Hutchinson to Cross County to Sawmill River to the Henry Hudson is the backway into town. You pick up the Merritt in Milford, just south of New Haven. As far as Boston to New Haven there are too numerous roads and most are good but they take a long time to get where you're going.
