Use of K&N Filter

Hi Everyone,

First off as a new member; I must say what an informative group, one of the best forum groups that I have encountered-

Not a complete newbie squid--

Found a "barn find" so to speak. A great starter bike for my vertically challenged girlfriend of 5'.

2007 with 1944 miles

Needless to say it has a slow circuit idle problem.

Thanks to all of you, many of my questions have been answered by just reading previous threads.

Yes the airbox is a nightmare---therefore it's gone

After reading many posts regarding swapping out for k&n or uni, I decided to go with the tried and true K&N.

Someone in the thread suggested an alternate model KA-2586 which I ordered ----would fit---

Not Quite!

Here's the question/problem:

Carb throat is 49mm od, this particular filter has an od diameter of 45mm--

Suggestions for no airbox filter to carb connection---- Runners possible or am I SOL and simply in need of returning/exchanging this filter?

The KA-2586 is the drop in filter that fits inside the airbox. You want K&N R-0990.
