Thoughts about the BRC2 class

Overall, it was a good class. However, everything taught in BRC2 was covered in the BRC already (which I took 10 years ago). I believe there was only one exercise that wasn't in the BRC.

Was it worth the $125? For me, it wasn't. Was it fun? Absolutely!!! However, I was hoping for a more advanced riding session. But it was definitely nice to freshen up on slow speed maneuvers.

For some of the other riders, this class was definitely worth it. Two bikes dropped (Gixxer 600 & VStorm 650).

Gixxer 600 dropped on the offset cone weave. The was the exercise I felt was the most challenging. Definitely need to do this at a walking pace! Here's what the offset cone weave looked like:

Unfortunately, I didn't see the Gixxer drop. I heard it. He was pretty pissed off:

And for some reason, this guy dropped his VStrom. No idea what happened there. No one helped him pick it back up!

There's a tiny girl on an awesome sounding Harley. Forgot the model. But I think I saw 1,450cc on the motor. It sounds 10x better in person. Her pipes were pointed to the ground. When she revs it, it blows the dirt on the ground up. Pretty badass if you ask me.

The figure 8 box did give a few riders some trouble. I definitely didn't feel as confident on the Ninjette as I did on the MSF bikes in the original BRC course. I was being extra cautious because I didn't want to be the 3rd person to drop a bike! Luckily, I never had to put a foot down =)

So...in conclusion, is the BRC2 worth taking? It really depends on you. If you don't feel as confident during parking lot speed maneuvers, definitely take it as a refresher. However, if you remember the drills during the BRC, and practice those drills in empty parking lots once in a while, I'd suggest spending $125 on a different class.

I plan on taking the ARC later this year (probably the fall when the weather cools off a bit). But I'm still glad I experienced the BRC2 today.
