WTB: 88-07 Gas Tank

I'm building a café racer but the tank we have is rusty. So I'm looking for a rust-free tank with very few dents. Don't really need a gas cap or petcock. Doesn't matter what color it is.

Thanks!

2006 Ninja 250R msrp $2999

Gas tank, $810.

huhuhu

There's a couple on ebay for $200.

Saw some epoxy for $60 for coating inside of gas tanks.

yeah I've been watching ebay for a couple weeks now.

our tank is too far gone to fix. the bike was wrecked and the guy had the tank off when it was sitting in the shed, but can't complain too much, it was a free bike (well my nephew gave the guy $8 to get a new title for it)

I've got one I'd sell for $50 plus shipping, but it would be cheaper for you to just line your tank with Caswell epoxy. http://www.caswellplating.com/restor...nk-sealer.html It likes light rust as it gives a better substrate for the epoxy to adhere to. just need to be sure and prep the tank according to directions. This stuff won't peel off like the flexible liners if installed properly, and the tank won't ever rust inside because the epoxy is impervious to water as well as fuel.

Our tank has a small hole on the right side and there are small holes on the curved part that meets the frame from the rust, I mean it is literally junk, I'm only using it for mock up of other parts til I get a good one. I'm not going to complain about having to buy a tank since the bike was free and it has less than 2000 miles.

Can you get me some pics of your tank?

I'm technologically challenged and only know how to post pics to email. So if you'll PM me your email address, I'll send tank pics.

FWIW, Caswell is great for pinholed tanks. Just tape over the holes and apply the sealer. Depending on how much you use (one container treats up to a 10 gallon tank), it leaves a 1/8" thick or thicker epoxy lining inside the tank, which strengthens it significantly.
