I actually don't fully shave 95% of my face/neck.
My skin doesn't do well with a close clean shave, so for last 12 years or so I use a beard trimmer with no cover thing so it is as close as it will go to shave everything on my face/neck, then I use an electric foil razor to get my upper lip and cheek area to give me a thick chin strap Its quick easy and uber cheap. I have been using the same trimmer and electric razor for the past 9 yrs easy. Sure I have some scruff all the time but I like it.

until just recently i was a disposable razor kind of person. but i decided to try electrics again and bought a sensitouch 3d... it was expensive... its the best shave i've ever had. can do it wet or dry... the battery lasts a long time... nice and close shave and you can do it without paying attention if you want.

Electric mostly but if i want a clean shave then this does the job
Used to use a mach 3 that would rip the face off me when i was in the army, a barber mate of mine suggested that a single very sharp blade would do a better job of it & was spot on. Takes a bit of getting used to but does a very clean job, took off a month's beard in a couple of passes without a scratch. |

Used to go electric, then I switched to a single blade, single blade needs to be honed so now I'm using a bag of cheapo 30 cent razors that are good for only two shaves each.
Ideally one strops the blade (rubs against leather like in the movies) for one-two dozen strokes before and after use. If there is any sign of damage, tugging or failing the single hair test, you hone it on a sharpening stone with a polishing grit (3000 or so). How long you go between honing depends on your care of the tool: whether you keep the blade oiled, away from moisture, etc. Last time I sharpened my blade was 4-5 months. |

As a guy who shaves his head every morning am deeply interested in shave gear. I have five tools:
One of these for most of my head One of these for head details, face and neck. Moved to it from a Mach 3 and like it much better. These two things: And last but not least..... Hotel soap. Yep. Every time I travel I bring those little free bars of soap back with me and chuck 'em in a box. I haven't bought shaving cream in many years.

For years I have been shaving with a disposable cartridge razor but I am going to switch to an old fashioned safety razor like my Pop used to use. Disposable cartridges are becoming more and more expensive and don't last long.

A razor hasn't touched my face in about 7 years. Beard man here.
If I do ever shave I will have it done old school with a strait razor. Always wanted to feel what that was like. |

@Apex , loved your video.
Glad to hear that more people are into safety double edge razors. Cheap blades and nice shave. Once in a while I'll use the electric if I'm lazy. |

I just use the fusion 5 blades. They're expensive but I'm lazy and tired when I have to wake up in the morning so I shave in the shower with no mirror. I also use them for several months each before replacing a cartrige lol. Basically until the thing is straight up pulling the hair out.
I have to shave every day btw so I think my skin is used to it cause I don't use shaving cream either haha. |

I shave at home w a disposable 3 blade razor (gillette) once a week.
I go to an old school barber shop once a month and get hot towel and straight razor shave (smooth like a baby's ass). |

Saftey razor, Astra Premium Platinum. Blades are cheap and sharp. Haven't experimented with other blades, but cartridge sucks in comparison.

I'm looking into getting a straight razor. I wanted to go to a barber shop and have 'em try it on me to see if my skin likes it but nobody in my area does that? I thought it was reasonably common. That said, I gotta go in blind. What can I expect to spend for a good straight razor? I already have a strop for my knives.

I usually just grab the hair on the top of my head and pull really hard... The beard and mustache just shrink back in pretty much.

It depends, I prefer straight razor shaving. However, I can't shave with it on a regular basis so I change between it an an electric razor. My skin requires moisturizer to be able to straight razor shave, other wise I get ingrown hairs, but I have sensitive skin so to much moisturizer gives me the complexion of a pubescent boy.
