Ninjette hiatus.
Well with some padding and tape on my hand I took off for a street ride. I haven't ridden the 250 in two weeks or three weeks. The last thing I did was race my scalpel like, wheelie busting, mini tard...
I swear, I thought I forgot to tighten something or the bike was broken for the first 10 miles. My ride consisted of this kind of self talk. Add plenty of sweary words for the true authentic experience. I'm chasing an fz1 and a rsv4 up and down redwood road. "Why is this bike soooo sloooow? Omg like there is nooo power. Stop passing 2 or 3 cars going up hill now I have to wait for them to pull over. Stop parking it in the turns and killing my drive...no wait... O there they go." Lots of why doesn't this bike stop, and finding the bump stops waaay to often, lets not forget the wonderful feeling of that waterbed quality mid corner stability. "Haha-me laughing in my helmet while I soak up Bryan on the way to pinehurst road- this bike is amazingly horrible. How did @rojoracing53 convince me to buy one of these things?" The conclusion came clear to me while I'm icing my hand a minute ago. And yes, the trillion shift action required for normal ninja 250 use is not the business with a sprained hand. Truly the ninja 250/300 is the perfect beginner bike hands down no questions asked. And I feel sorry for that guy who bought the rsv 4 two weeks ago and had a stock ninja 250 breathing down his throat...well unless the road was straight for more than 20 ft but I digress. |

Real power is in your head.

Tell me about it. I cannot convince myself to go faster. Really the street is just getting frustrating to me. Cops everywhere, people everywhere, and blind corners. It makes having fun in the streets really difficult. Although the 250 keeps me in check. You bet I would be winding out gears on a supersport.

Isn't it all straight roads and like no hills in northern Ohio? I want to go on a trip through the Appalachians sometime, like Tennessee and North Carolina.

Yeah they're pretty straight and flat if you dont know where to look. But I could at least find enough curves to keep you occupied for chasing if you rode with me for an afternoon.
If you head south, it gets hillier and curvier, but the amount of gravel and crappy road conditions also goes up. Not really worth it when you consider the required amount of slab each way. The roads are alright I guess, but I'd rather just do another track day and go balls out. |

The short; Timing is everything. I sold the 250 to a newbie (who already crashed it ) and replaced it with an 07 Gixxer 600. I've had it for about 3 months now, and have put a little over 1k on it. I am slowly getting acclimated to it .... cornering & confidence. Although, a track day(s) would solve that real quick, but just no time. As you know, the suspension and the power is superior over the 250 / 300. Honestly though, I prefer the flickability of the 250 / 300. Therefore, I do have some regret not replacing it with a 300, instead. Which is what I really wanted, but chose the 600 by popular opinion. For myself, I enjoy tight and technical roads and the 250 / 300 is the perfect sportbike bike, IMO. With the 600 (or anything larger), there's a bit more effort involved. At least, from what I have experienced thus far. As for Honda. If not the 300, the CBR500 was an alternate choice. Shelling out more money for an under-powered 500 (vs the ex500) was just not worth it for me. I had no interest in the 600 or +, or any other manufacturer for that matter. I totally agree! The fun with the 250 / 300 is the chase. |

O man your poor 250 is already getting beat up. That was a cool bike. I love roads like calaveras and I always wonder if it would be harder to ride it in that stuff.
I hear ya on getting used to it. After riding a buddies 996 everything felt pretty awkward. Major riding adjustments needed. |

I need to get some track days under my belt and head out to california, those streets are just as beautiful as MD and seemingly filled with bikes (plus lanesplitting)

I no longer have the Gixxer 600. I have replaced it with a 2013 SE 300 Why?! In short, I don't really need a 600. Being vertically challenged, the 300 fits my better, and I can have just as much fun with it. |

I feel you. That's why I picked up a fun street oriented bike. I have way more fun wringing out a 80 hp bike than a 140hp super bike. As much as I would love to rail on a panigale it's just so useless in 90% of street riding situations.
And I am short. So I shameless enjoy my 150R in the dirt. |

For track fun, I still have my mini, NSXR120 (NSR w/ BBR120 4t) Although I don't get to the track as often as I'd like, due to schedule conflicts. |

I made it to :56-1:01 before shutting it off and knowing why I don't do stupid junk like that. Get it a little more wrong, run a little wide more wide on corner exit under throttle, die in a head on collision. I mean just watch it ... dude crosses the double yellows immediately in front of an oncoming car. No thanks.
I keep my speed to the race track and ride safe on the street.

If you were in my neck of the woods, I would certainly offer you some laps with it. Although, from my super-moto experiences (on a TTR125 and XR100), I'll take a super-moto over my NSR any day ..... lol. The thin frame and lightness of the moto makes them so easy to ride, and flickable. My NSR seems to be a lot more work, in comparison.
