I am turning 36 this year. And my back is killing me each time i do long distance ride. A symptom that I am getting older by the minute. Damn.

Abu, take if from someone with experience, back problems can come and go over the decades. Try to figure out what bothers your back and avoid it. Treat it nicely, and avoid doing things like lifting while bent over, lifting and twisting, etc.. You may find that if you do something simple for a while, like use bar risers, you can avoid the pain and keep riding, and maybe not need the risers after a few months. Examine what you're doing while riding and see if that's making it worse. A few years ago, I found that I was tending to tense up and lift the weight of my arms. When I relax and just lay them on the bars, I can go all day without problems.

Riding was hurting my back but I had bad posture on the bike - my back was rounded. When I tilted my hips forward, which puts the normal curve back into the low back, it's much more comfortable. I also had to make sure I'm not putting any weight on the handlebars. Weight on the bars hurts my wrists.
I hope you figure out what helps your back feel better. |

Solution was to rotate and rock the hips forwards to straighten out back (more normal curve). There are exercises you can do to strengthen back muscles. Roman Chair back-lifts really help. |

Core-exercise is great in my experience. I'm just tall enough to get back problems and boy do they hurt like hell when they get bad.
