My 300 in all of it's naked glory! It's now ready to take to the frame guy. You can see exactly how out of line the front is compared to the tail. Possible fork bending too since the wheel looks uneven, but it's hard to really tell. Hopefully it can all be fixed.

I'm paying out of pocket. Got screwed by the police report so no money from the other guy's insurance. I was dumb and didn't have collision. If insurance had been involved, I would've just gotten a new bike after it happened cuz the frame is ****ed up. |

Shimmed my carb needles. (If you need shim washes, Lowes stocks #4 stainless), That took care of the little flat spot about 1/4 throttle, and seems to put a little more zip in it.
Did a DIY tail tidy/rear turn signal delete. Did the tail light mod to add turn signals in the unused sockets. Used 30 led tower bulbs wired so the whole bulb lights. There is no missing the turn signal light for sure. Knocked out the opaque red cover in the bottom of the tail light, and installed a clear panel for the tag light. Works excellent. Used the stock tag holder, and made a bracket, painted flat black. Trimmed the fender to leave only the undertail part. It all came out so nice it looks factory. Ordered mirror blank offs, and a set of flush mount front signals. Now I just need to find bar end mount that will work with my stock bar ends so I can put on some bar end mirrors, and I will be set. OK, I am never finished with a bike. |

Lubed chain and clutch cable. Found out that my clutch lever pivot bolt almost backed itself all the way out due to the lock nut falling off since the end of the bolt had the thread worn off. Winging it with a smaller sized lock nut until the OEM bolt and nut come in.

5.x gallons of vinegar in the tank.
The seal I made for the petcock and float failed so I ended up just shoving towels on the fill ring and keeping the tank upside down. It's leaking obviously but I didn't have time to work out another way to seal the holes. I also figure if rust is going to form, I'll suspect it'll form on the top where it's exposed to the air more than the bottom which had residual fuel on it. Whatever. I'm emptying it out tomorrow, filling it with baking soda and water, and then flushing the entire thing out.

Leaked half of its content on the floor. The gas ring's pretty clean now though. But I got to see the rest of the inside of the tank with better lighting. Yep, more rust to deal with it. I'm going to have to find a way to plug either the top or bottom of the tank so I can really seal in the vinegar to do its job for a couple of days.

Yesterday, Sunday, I gave the Ninjette a warm soapy bath, tried some scatch remover (too deep). I reassembled the rear brake after giving everything a good bath in brake cleaner, removed and serviced the air cleaner (filthy), adjusted the idle, lubed the chain, straightened the right handlebar, lubed both throttle cables, and the clutch cable (like butter now).
Really burns me that a local dealership tried so hard to rip off the PO, a young girl, telling her she needed a disc, a master cylinder, pads AND a caliper..... bunch of bums. The total bill was going to be a whopping $700.00, which is why she sold it for $900.00. Needs rear pads, and a good bleed. When I get the pads, I'll replace the brake fluid on both ends. For you northwestern Missouri folks.....STAY AWAY FROM DELLS HONDA KAWASAKI! I'd like to go give them a piece of my mind, but instead I'll just warn anyone who ask's. Rode the VFR Interceptor to work, as it appears that I am addicted to power and speed. Next up, I'll remove all the body work, work some magic on the scatch's and try to sell the little Devil. Might have to wait 'til spring, but except for the scratch's she looks almost new! |

Slight vinegar smell. Would've been worst if I used the special seasoned one my mother uses :P
EDITED Post: Gave the vinegar bath another try. This time with the float hole covered with a rubber stopper and petcock hole covered with a rubber sheet reinforced by the actual petcock itself w/ the filter removed. Note: The four screws that hold down the float assembly does not go into the tank. It actually screws onto an elevated platform. I bought washers for the screws and screwed them in thinking they'd be needed so that's $3 down the drain. It's a good thing I didn't puncture the tank, just made indents on the metal which I had to double then triple check to make sure I really didn't do any damage. Oh and I slapped this Orbital tank pad on. I had it originally on the replacement black tank which made the design look dumb. But on any other color, it's wonderful. I do suggest not buying it though. It's a pain to get the air bubbles out, I still have some but it's not as bad on a lighter colored tank.

Pictures of my new rear sets, they really clean up the bike. Just need to splice some wires to get the rear brake light working, bleed the rear brake and go crazy with loctite. Can't wait to throw on the woodcraft clip-ons.

@NevadaWolf, where did you get that voltmeter from? You should make a GPS bracket. camarozsomething... made one and I just copied it. It mounts using the bolts that secure your fairing stay and mirrors.
I worked on decrudding some carbs. The worse ones I've worked on yet to date! So bad that the float valve corroded itself to it's bore.
