Cleaned head gasket surfaces, de-carboned combustion chamber and ports on the head, and reinstalled valves. Man those retainers are tiny!
Here's my slick valve parts organizer since I popped them off at my dad's shop but had to wait for a better compressor to reassemble it at home.

Our Ducati dealer uses muffin tins, 1 for each bike rack. I like the egg carton idea much better.

I didn't take a picture of it when closed but if you look closely you can see where I poked holes thru the top the valves just stood upright. Rode in the trunk of my car for a couple days (it was wedged in to where it couldn't turn over) and seemed to work fine.

Ordered an Area P full system in the group buy, a K&N 0990 pod filter, and a new mirror visor for the helmet.
Then I took off the inner bracing from the frame sliders installed by the previous owner. Gotta be 2-3 lbs right there. Much weight saves! |

Took off the fairings in preparation for the changing of the forks on the weekend. Frame and triple look fine. Of course forks are bent, and the radiator looks dented.
I finally figured out why my turn signal wouldn't work! I'm so happy. Turns out that one of the leads (I think that's the term" was unplugged for the turn signal. Super proud of that. Now just waiting for tools to come on Friday. Rear stand and front triple stand tomorrow. Damage report: http://imgur.com/a/TG09V |

Lubed the clutch cable and straightened out a bent rear brake lever.
Also witnessed the instant rust eating action of PB Blaster on that brake lever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbRtX1T8rtQ Last futzed with by Flying; May 7th, 2014 at 03:46 PM. Reason: puh-buhhh |

checked my tire pressures prior to heading out for my commute and they were SUPER low - do check them out people - I check mine when I clean and lube the chain but probably need to do it a bit more often lol

switched out a bent handle bar and then a few miles full squid style, no flip flops I put shoes and socks on after wrenching. But before I did switch to shoes I put my bike in second just to see if my tommy flip flops had a wide enough band to get between my foot and the lever, yes they do is the answer.

First post in over a year yeah! That's because I bought a new Ninja to replace my totaled greenie from over a year ago.
I rode 200 miles from NC to VA last night only to end my trip at a gas station in VA and find out that I a) broke off and lost the back rubber cushion on my brand new seat cowl and b) I now have way too much slack on my throttle and have to manually close it so I don't die when I release the brake. Good times.

Finally got around to doing a first valve adjustment on the 300 at over 12k miles lol. All the clearances were way tight and the spark plugs looked ready for replacement. Taking a really long time to do everything. Still need to actually put everything back together and then do a throttle sync. Ugh. I'm too lazy for this ****, but too cheap to pay a mechanic. This is why I kept putting it off
On a related note: fishing an 8mm socket out of the engine was not a fun game. Do not recommend. Would not play again. |

Rode it WOT for 800 miles or 13hrs strait from Durango CO to Simi Valley CA. There was a crazy head wind most the way so I just kept it pinned the whole time shifting between 4-6 gears to keep it between 8k-11k RPMs. The little ninja is such a workhouse taking it as in stride with no complaints.
After going the first 7 hrs of the trip at altitudes between 5500'-7300' with only a couple quick gas stops, when exited the hwy below 2000' the extra HP from the stop sign surprised me. Thank you denser low altitude air Don't go thinking I was only WOT because of the head wind ether. On the way out to Durango earlier on wed last week I was also WOT, the only difference was I had a nice tailwind and was moving along at 80-100 mph. Thank you radar detector |

Boba Fett is officially my new copilot and his maiden voyage is the 135 mile trip to pick up my new rear tire which is departing in about 15 min. Hopefully I'm timing this right to avoid Atlanta downtown traffic and looming threats if rain lol
