good thing you were covered hopefully you managed to get a nicer vacation spot out of it. I was mostly skeptical because I pictured you owning the entire thing and saw cnn in the link. I've been watching too much mtv cribs recently

Good catch, but you won't be seeing me on mtv cribs anytime soon. Maybe you can catch me on tlc's "real backwoods hillbilly's bitchin' pads".

Also, I barely broke even on the insurance claim. Win? Dunno..

Least of worries, already covered had plenty time to prepare for zombies. Ghosts, thats what we have the ghost busters for. And doomsday, as long as there is no giant chickens that KFC has released I think we will be fine, plus the chicken only ever goes after Peter Griffin.

Know this thread is pretty old but meh... Two things scare the absolute life out of me, they are. 1. Being paralyzed in an accident, (had a moment in a stack awhile ago where I thought I'd done my spine, turned out to just b the break lever gone thru the straps in my jacket, mind you was down for like three minutes with cages all around, any help? Nope). And 2. Kangaroos an the highway, seen what the can do to cars n ppl, would really rather not see my ninja vs big red. Anyway those are my fears, oh and clowns, they suck...

teenagers on their cell phones. or anyone, for that matter.
you could be the best rider in the world, but if someone rams their car up your tailpipe at a stop light because they weren't looking up, it won't matter either way. (that happened once, to me. I was in my uncle's pickup so no injuries, luckily.)

This is one of the big benefits of lane sharing laws. I can tuck in between two stopped cars at lights, where no other cars can get to me!

My worst fear is that some of Jiggles' horrible crash luck is going to rub off on me and I'll wind up in the hospital with severe injuries, full of the good drugs and writing bizarre, hilarious posts.

Here in vegas you can get a learners permit to drive at 15 1/2 and full license at 16. I don't think anyone in this generation has the maturity or has developed any of the necessary skills to drive at only 15 1/2. Knowing I'm riding around next to 15 to 17 year olds in big SUV's is frightening. Not to mention all the illegals that drive even younger than that and with nothing not even a permit.

Drivers on cell phones, drunk drives, drivers not paying attention. So pretty much other people. I don't mind hurting myself or when someone hurts them self but I can't stand when people are injured because of other people doing something irresponsible.

I tend to fear pavement surface more than I really should. I love to lean on clean pavement, but never knowing if there's an oil slick, gravel, diesel, or even a big ass stick in the corner ahead kind of freaks me out. I'd say that fear increased after I started riding track and trusting the streets less.

Biggest fear

Other people you can never control and you can only guess how they are going to behave. So while I recognize the risk, none of those situations give me any fear. Between distracted drivers, emotional drivers, clueless driver, whatever, I just move around them and try to stay away from them as much as possible.

Animals on the road are another thing I can't control. Sure my awareness goes up, but should Bambi decide at that very moment that the bushes on the other side of the road are tastier, there is nothing I can do about it. Again, i know the risk but feel no fear.

I think the only thing that causes me fear is my own actions. Did I just take this corner too hot for my skill? Am i pushing beyond being mentally alert enough to be safe? Are my fingers or toes too cold to feel the controls and react quickly enough? These questions and others like them come up all the time and I am evaluating myself as much as I am evaluating the area around me. I can choose to stop, I can choose to make changes, I can choose to adjust how I am riding. Making the wrong choice is what causes me fear.

I agree with this post completely. I have ridden most of my life and all 3 of my crashes were my fault. I believe if you have done your training and practice what you learn (dirt riding really helps control slides and deal with low traction) then the "conditions" are less of a threat and if you follow your training you will be more aware of the animals (I know some roads have brush right up to the road) and see most of them coming. I also know that after several years of riding I don't go blasting into a blind corner and most of the time my riding group and I will ride our route slowly before hitting it more aggressively. I no longer hit the twisties like I want to die because that is what will eventually happen if you are not under control. I used to be crazy but I realize that is only appropriate for the track! We now ride the "pace" we only take the straits slightly above the posted limit but when the turns come up we practice correct braking and line selection then enter the corner and when you hit the apex you selected you can roll on the throttle and power out. Many times I can get the rear tire to spin up a little and that is way more exciting than running 100+ mph in a strait line. I love to go back and see if I can hit the same line twice or more. The advantage is that when you hit the apex you can see thru the turn and be sure it is clear then you are safe to excelerate out. My job depends on my license and I am too old to stand before a judge and plead stupidity form my riding causing an injury. No throttle twist is worth a crash or speeding ticket. The people driving cars are unpredictable but if you keep aware and ready you can survive and if you are not flying thru areas you haven't scouted recently then you will have the best chance of avoiding those downfalls also so all that is left to fear is your own decision making. Always Ride safe

Gonna have to say gravel. It will ruin your day (or night) in a heartbeat. I've always saved my bike *knock on wood* when I hit gravel, but I always put my foot down when I hit a patch in a turn. Other than that, deer.

Watch out puting your foot down... I hope you have good boots an never have a wild ride because of it!

Not having a bike!!! Ahhhhh! The horror! (this is my biggest fear)

A few of mine that stick out from my large list
- Low-siding and going under the wheels of a car coming the other way
- Getting rear ended at a stop light
- Road rage crazies

Oh come on. I got two years on ya and happily accepted the role of crazy cat lady. Side's getting tied down just means less time and money for the important stuff, like riding motorcycles.
