I was over-due on valve adjustment. ( by almost 2000 miles) finally tackled it.( My first time on this Ninja) I dont think prior owner, EVER got its valve service done! ....those exhaust clearances were way, WAY...WAAAAAY too tight.
Then re-tackled the carbs ( initially thats what I thought was causing the poor performance, was taking way too long to start/ run.) Runs spanktastic now. So crisp, and caffienated! |

Installed a K&N air filter. Had to clean up after some of the tenants moved out of the air box.

Replaced the stock can that had some rash with another clean one, removed the front wheel so I can get a tire mounted, then did some cleaning including removing the left fork and scraping a state inspection sticker...thanks Virginia!

Replaced the front and rear sprockets. I've had the worst luck with front sprockets lately being very tough to remove. This time, I had to use a piece of my bicycle stand as a cheater bar on my breaker bar.

I miss my ninjette. With the KLR, I haven't done any mods yet. I've been debating on them and if I want to actually spend the money as money is still tight.
However, I did snag some tubes and tire levers for my bike. I also got a cool gadget called a SnapJack. I can jack up my bike on the side of the road and change a tube with no issues with this thing. Downside to having a tubed bike, some of your storage is tubes. Okay, a lot of it because tubes take up so much room. Still, loving my bike. If they'd just make a KLR with a solid and fairly modern engine, then it would be perfect. Oh, and a better seat

some minor modifications
Today I cut off the box license and rear light holder,.. kind of regret it, it looked more nostalgic but I still like the look. I discovered that Kawasaki left what appeared to be light holes in the rear break compartment for your rear stock lights. YUP! They fit right in the brake light left and right compartments, they are empty and I believe made for this purpose, they fit perfectly perfect. I found an L bracket and put my plate up diagonally. My K&N filter came in the mail finally so I installed that, Ha Ha I kind of man handled the filter and crimped it, should work fine. I tightened up loose bolts and gave her a wipe down.

Got tired of my go-pro clone cameras batteries, either dying within 45 minutes-ish..and then they just became DEAD- unuseable.
Found out a few companies make USB plugs, that connect to your battery. ( charging cel phones what not) i purchased two, of the USB ports, then drilled and cut into the watertight housings, so the cameras power supply can fit. Then, I changed setting on the camera to " auto" this means when its connected to direct power , it starts recording on its own. So I have 1 camera low on the windscreen, and the other camera on my helmet. ( this does mean i am now attatched to the bike via a cord to helmet, but thats fine, ive made areas for some slack/movement, without dangly cords everywhere). As soon as Im ready to ride, i connect both USB to camera cords, start recording, and ready to go! This way im only limited to the size of memory card, and not changing out batteries, or having a bulk supply of them. The ONLY downside ( to me) is that I MUST remember to disconnect the USB cords, or I'll be recording all night/drain battery. So far, no issues. |

In Japan those lights are orange indicators. In UK the ZZR has the same setup, but not far enough apart for EU regulations, so they were painted out to match to body work. I discovered this, so removed the covers & rubbed the paint off then treated them
To a couple of coats of gloss varnish to restore the surface. Looks much better like it was intended. |

After I changed the oil, I took the bike out for its maiden voyage...it was rough. Carbs were stuttering real bad at the beginning and the forks felt like there was no oil in them. Carbs got a bit better after a couple miles but the forks are awful. Time to clean carbs, install jet kit and full Area-P (wish it was race mount). Also going to start looking for fork springs and preload adjusters.

Took the carbs off, cleaned them, installed a DJ jet kit and did the Kleen delete mod. Man, it sucks getting old...I installed the same jet kit on a new gen ten years ago and this time I was having a hard time seeing the notches on the needles.

Rather than a work related commute, I finally put about 100 miles in today. Felt a little off, being 50 miles away, and not on the bike for commuting..( or just putting along my 3 or 4 mile radius local ride)

Got Ninjette wet and muddy yesterday going to office. Rained slightly in morning with drizzle throughout day. Took northern route back past Sears Point Raceway because I know of a nice little dirt frontage-road that would be nice and slick after rains!
Spooned on some of these last week: |

After getting all my panels back on finally, I set sag for my fat butt. Had to crank rear preload ring quite a bit and cut new spacers for the front forks. Started with 64/44mm sag front to rear. Ended up with 38/35mm sag front to rear. Seat height went from 29.3 to 29.9 inches. Way more comfortable for me to stand at 5'10. I already re-upholstered my seat...but I'll prolly go back into it and add some more foam. Still want a little bit higher seat. Will help with leg comfort. Got some different pegs in the mail right now without rubber tops. They should lower peg top about 1/4 inch, further improving seat to peg ratio.

This would be a late post. Yesterday I received an LED for my bike, friend came by with his Harley to hang out, I took the original halogen out for brighter light, looks nice. Also received Carburetors in the mail repaired from Ducatiman! I slapped em' back on and she was ready to go! The bike runs cleaner and has a beautiful idol. I had purchased wrong Jet sizes and didn't realize it. This is the man you go to for your Carburetor services, Thank you again!

Hello, I will be doing the brake upgrade on my N300 with SVRacing adapter plate for a CBR600 caliper and steel lines.
I already have the steel lines, Galfer. For the caliper, I will try to get one from a CBR600. I think being the CBR very popular, I will have more options for pads, rebuild kits and getting a good condition caliper. I assume only the right side caliper works fine. Will I be able to re use my banjo bolts? Not sure yet if change the MC too. If I do, I was thinking in getting one from a ZX6R or ZX10R. I want to keep my bike street legal, so I will need the brake light switch. Hopefully MC's coming from those kawis will have the same connector for the switch? Any other option? Not going to expensive stuff like brembo. Anything else I will need? Any tips? |

Don't use MC from dual-brake system, you'll have 1/2 hydraulic leverage. Yes, lever will feel solid, but you'll have to squeeze it really hard. Twice as hard for same braking-force. |

Snapped a tool trying to loosen the camshaft guard bolts (heating, hammering, cooling, wd40 and even vice grips didnīt work at all, 8mm socket goes upward when applying force, already rounded 3 sockets) and the bit that snapped fell through the paper towel i put on the chain hole and got stuck between the chain and wall, couldnīt fish it with a magnetic finger so i gently pushed it down and it fell, so Iīm going to take out the clutch cover and look for it(after buying a third 8mm socket that is)
