I'd like that. The replacement fairing I got was cracked and I'm clueless on how to actually fix it. Soooo just painted over it.

Just to mention, because of all of the talk about how dangerous tracks are, I was scared shittless going across them the first times.

Around here the humidity condensates on them in the morning, makes them real slippery.
Riding over them gets crazy sometimes. Anything other than normal pavement should be treated as potentially hazardous.

Slippery / relatively large amount of space between where the actual track is and where the pavement picks back up. It's on a sharp right hander too. My front tire almost got stuck in there. Woke me right up though. Now I know to avoid that street. I never really go there anyways.

Since we're on this topic. Coming back from my 50 mile journey to the bike shop to return paper work. I was almost back and in the next town over there is a very steep but gradual hill with a stop light at the bottom. Right now it has these horrid little ridges all over it, I'm not sure if it's because it's winter, or if they're going to be doing something there. But anyway, going down as I was braking my rear slid, just a tad bit. Enough to make me open my eyes a bit and forget how cold my hands were, but not enough that I needed new pants... Just wondering what could have caused that?

Speed bumps can be a hazard to. This is the voice of experience talking but here's a good example.
Motorcycle LEO loses it on Speed Bump If you have to cross any obstruction do it at 90* to the obstruction.

Cried a little bit cause the wind is too bad here and couldn't ride her to work today. Have to go over suspension bridge to get to work and the wind will almost blow you over the edge. Crappy winter weather!

This isn't done to my ninja but it is for my ninja so ill post it here anyways.
Finished my tire mounting stand and tested the new updated nose on the Rojo-Bar. With the new tapered nose on the bar and the stand firmly mounted to the floor it's a piece of cake to mount tires. Anyone in the east bay need a tire mounted |

Well, received my seal cowl and flush mounts today. Tried putting on my seat cowl, but noticed how loose the back portion was. First reaction: "Google must know why." Found solution and off to Lowes I go now.

Rode in the pouring rain for the first time. The level of concentration required for that is unreal. I'm not sure if I love it or hate it.

Finished my seat cowl last night. Had been trying to fix a goof I made from being too creative. Unfortunately something went wrong as I applied the clear coat and the green base layer cracked like a dried out lake bed. Now need to figure out if I want to live with it or redo the whole thing.

Trouble is those blue flames are the original color of the cowl. If I redo, I'll end up sanding that area and I don't have that brilliant blue to repair it. Hummmm, must think about this.
(originally I hadn't intended on keeping any blue, but when I got it and saw that beautiful color I couldn't eliminate all of it.)

I'm not that good! LOL
I may try putting the vinyl back on to cover up the blue and wet sand everything else to strip off the green. Oy, this is what I get for trying to do stuff too fast when it's too cold.

Yesterday I went on my longest ride and rode about 250miles. Not much, but it was a big thing for me... Also, I got 262miles on a full tank of gas, which is also a record for me... Lol, also I went with a friend who has ridden over 60,000 miles overall and realised how much I suck at riding and how badly I need to attend a track school... I was terrible in the twisties, always on & off the throttle, not smooth at all... Serious SRs... Also I almost had a head on collision with an a**hole overtaking completely in my lane... It really is dangerous to ride in india...

So decided to do a few things today. One being finding the cause for a small leak I've been having. This involved taking off the side front fairings so perfect time to do another small project, flushmounts.
Took the fairings off. Cleaned everything I could think of where it would leak. Turned the bike on for a few minutes. Let it sit. No leaks. Go for a ride. Come back. Let it sit. No leaks. I get bored so I check out the air filter and notice the things horrible looking. Definitely will be getting a K&N pod filter soon to replace and shimming carb needles as well. Clean things a bit and put everything back together. I remember about the "snorkel mod," so out goes that little sucker. I can tell a small difference in sound. I like it. I ride it. Come back again and let it sit. Still no leaks anywhere. Wondering if it was an actual leak to begin with. For a week I would get small stains at my work place after my commute to work. Shifter side and look to be getting droplets around the kickstand area. Bike's been sitting for 30+ min. now and still not one drop. Oh well... Seeing as the fairings are off I figure I'll do the flushmounts. I have the triangle shaped ones. Got them off eBay for cheap. Went to mount these and noticed the damn things aren't long enough to use the supplied washer and nut to secure them. I remember seeing a thread regarding this. Can't recall if it was this forum, but I'm sure it was. Any help finding this thread. Been looking for a cool 10 min. now and nothing. :/ |

Went on the highway for the first time today. lol. It was kind of an accident really. I realized where I had ridden too, unless I turned around, there was no way to get back besides getting on the highway. But luckily I only had to get on for like a 1/4 mile. So I sucked it up, remembered I had balls and away I went. Then I decided I quite like the highway, and I wanted to see what I could get her up to with all of the wind that was blowing on me. So I stayed on for another 5 miles and we cruised at a nice pace of 90MPH. Considering I've heard it's hard to get these bikes past 80, I was surprised. She did 90 with ease and like I said there was a pretty strong wind blowing against our favour.

Which reminds me I should clean & lube my chain while I'm at it. Might as well take off the sprocket cover and clean that sucker as well. Any clue on my flushmount issue? I'm thinking if I stroll down the Lowe's hardware section I'm sure I'll find a solution. I have a few ideas already that I'm sure will work as well. Just need to find the right hardware. |
