Not only are voters damn dumb (that's pretty obvious) but the fact our country still thinks we need an electoral college is even dumber. It pretty much says the government is gonna elect whomever they themselves choose reguardless of the popular vote, it's like NASCAR an their stupid chase.

I love NASCAR, but this chase for the championship is annoying and an over reach of power. I like short track Saturday night the best... Best racer wins the championship, no resetting points, no saying if your the best of the year you still can't win, cause you started to late.
The state level of government is useful with or without the electoral college, check the consitution; it will tell ya all about it.

Gerrymandering is the biggest problem with government. The people looking for votes should not be allowed to draw the voting districts.
They are pushing our reps further to the left and right and leaving most of us to pick between bad or worse. Edit: I will be voting today.

I've voted a few times in the past, but not anymore. Just seems like a waste of time to me. Nothing really ever changes, and if it does it's not gonna be because of me.
I wish it wasn't this way, but my one vote really doesn't matter. I feel like the only reason the government even let us vote anymore is just to give voters the illusion that they matter.

Everytime I see who is running, no one ever strikes me as someone I want to vote for. I love that Nevada has a "None of these canidates" option.
Who do you vote for when the choice is between a devil you know or a devil you don't? I hear most of the country screaming over the choices each state makes for their representatives, picking the terrible choice - but looking at the opponent, more often than not the new person would be worse. I'm thinking of Reid and Angle, the country flipped out when Reid was reelected, but looking at Angle I am glad she got no where near having a voice. It's not the system that is messed up, it's the people who's names are on the ballots.

@GreatScott Trust me, it's better this way. I hate politics and politicians, their all more interested in their own pockets than what's best for the people.

Only relatively useful. The people of the states have representatives; the states don't. Hell, Burkina Faso has an ambassador to the US, but no American state does. Once state senators started being chosen by popular election, the states lost. When they were appointed, their sole job was to represent the state interests. Now they're vote-whores like the rest.

#10. I vote Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I've decided to marry my German Shepherd. #9. I vote Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon at 15% isn't. #8. I vote Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would. #7. I vote Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it. #6. I vote Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves. I am also thankful that we have a 911 service that gets police to your home in order to identify your body after a home invasion. #5. I vote Democrat because I'm not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive and comfy. #4. I vote Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits, and we should take away Social Security from those who paid into it. #3. I vote Democrat because I believe that businesses should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrat Party sees fit. #2. I vote Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters. And, the #1 reason I vote Democrat is because I think it's better to pay $billions$ for oil to people who hate us, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle, gopher, or fish here in America. We don't care about the beetles, gophers, or fish in those other countries. "The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits" Albert Einstein

You choose none of the above when you want to vomit over all other options. Sometimes I wish KY had that, but then I realize it's inferred by not choosing any of the options and only there as a clay duck target.

I'd like to congratulate the USA on another peaceful transfer of power (in the Senate). There are many countries that use violence to accomplish this feat.
Also, first black Senator elected from the South since reconstruction. First woman Senator elected from Iowa. First black woman republican elected to Congress. Good job, fellow citizens! |

.gov crooks love it when the uninformed and apathetic choose not to vote. It sends them the message that it's okay to take and do whatever they want.
I mostly just vote against incumbents, you can use your vote against someone, too.

This is America, if you choose not to vote, that is your right.
If you have an idea for a better "system" and "different alternatives and methods", there are a lot of people who would be interested in hearing them. The great thing about our country is that we can agree to disagree.
