Hi from Norway!
Heya, I'm an 20 year old boy from Norway. Have always wanted a bike, but never had the money to get the license + bike/insurance etc. But this year I finally had the money for it and decided to go for it. Got my license June 29th, and I had already bought a brand new Ninja 250 leftover from 2009, a green one ofc!
I have always loved Ninjas, and i am pretty sure my next bike will be a ZX6R when i get older. But i must say Ducati, Aprilia RSV and MV Augusta F4 are awesome bikes too. The insurance for 600 or bigger bikes here is hopeless until you are 25-30yo. I really like the bike, have done about 1300km so far (yeah we use km and not mph here). Definitely alot more fun to drive than the boring 600 touring bikes we had at the driving school! Had a small crash a week ago or so, came around a corner, and there was a big crack in the road leading from the middle out in the ditch, which my front wheel went into.. Norwegian roads are pure dangerous.. Luckily my bike didn't suffer any real damage, some small scratches in the clearcoating and a bent shift pedal (it works totally fine tho, so don't think i will be changing it). When it comes to mods: Seat cowl from Kawasaki Green rimstripes from Kawasaki Also just ordered the double bubble windscreen, also from Kawasaki, and i also ordered some Harris Sport Bike ZX Racing Grips. About norwegian prices, it's completely insane.. just the driving license costed 5000$, and the bike 10250$, cheapest insurance 800$ Not many younger people have heavy bikes here, they mostly have 125cc because you can get that license at 16 vs 18 for heavy bikes, and ofc both the license and bikes are alot cheaper. Not to mention about 1/3 - 1/2 of the year being unable to drive bikes because of snow, and really poor road surface is common here. Not a great country for bikes, but i don't regret getting one a second. |

Thanks Yeah, just the must-have stuff is about 2600$, and most people here have 10-30 driving lessons in traffic in addition to that, think i had 20. Each 45minute lesson costs about 115$ The bad thing is that the car license is just as expensive, and I haven't gotten it yet, and probably wont for years.
The whole "education" was upgraded a few years ago, it now includes a safety class on a track, which is totally awesome! We were 3 people who got a whole track to basically drive as fast as we dared on There is also a safety class for country roads with a 4 hour trip with the teacher, which was cool |

Welcome to our humble little slice of 2-wheel heaven.
Could you possibly be putting that in the Norwegian prices? I ask because I know how different the value of our currencies are. One of my former roommates (they were a married couple with the husband being an old Army buddy of mine) was from Norway and was always checking the exchange rate. I know that the Norwegian money is less then the US dollar but not sure by how much right now since it keeps going up and down lately. Glad to have you on board with us here in the land of the ninjette. |

Thanksies
Sombo: I used a calculator online from my bank to convert it to USD In norwegian money its 60 900 NOK for the bike, 30 000 NOK for the license and 4 800 NOK for insurance. 1 USD is about 6 NOK, it varies abit every day (5.9593 today). |
