Gurk, your story is miles away from the OP's current plan. So far, about the only thing they have in common is you both didn't ride the ninja for very long. This thread would be totally different if he was following your path. I bet we all would be cheering the young lad on.

I'm also wondering how you found the transition. The amount of effort needed to turn is a huge pain IMO.

1200 dollars for insurance? Wut.

The most basic insurance for my 250 was 70 dollars a year. I stepped up my plan to 98 dollars a year to get a bunch of other things. I wish I had that kind of money to spend on insurance haha.

Yeah basic for me was about 130$, it's 1200 for full coverage. The transition wasn't too bad, the only thing is that the seating position on the R6 is a hell of a lot more aggressive. Turning is definitely not a problem.

I refuse to believe that a 15 year old child is paying $1200/year for full coverage on a 599cc Super Sport motorcycle.

that was for the ninjette, with low deductibles. r6 is about 3k with low deductibles.

Robert, for whatever reason I can't respond to that message you left me so I'll just respond here. I'm picking the 1000 up this week but unfortunately I will not be able to race you with it. Instead, I'd like a race with you that would actually be mildly challenging so I'll be bringing my 250 down to SoCal once I get my race mods finished. I will urge you that once you start falling behind not to push yourself too hard, I wouldn't want your parents to have to pay higher premiums because you wrecked your R6. I know wrecking your R6 is very tempting since it will give you the opportunity to own a zx10r but again I strongly urge you not to. The college fund your parents set up for you is quickly running out of money as they fund your toys and I think it would be beneficial to you in the long run if you could at least afford a couple semesters of community college.

I am looking forward to spanking you at our upcoming race.

LMAO @Jiggles.
But on a real note, you should definitely find an experienced riding buddy and have him/her sort of mentor you on what you should be working on so that you can work your skills up.

Come to think of it, I think it would be a great idea to have a sort of mentor list where people can volunteer to help show new riders the ropes.
Like a big brother program lol
What do you think @Alex?

I know you're getting a lot of crap (and understandably so), so I will keep my thoughts to myself as I'm sure you don't want to hear them and just compliment you on your amazing bike. Have fun but PLEASE be safe.

Something other than riding skills to work on is basic bike maintenance and how to properly install mods yourself rather than having parents pay someone else to do it. If you got the r6 to impress people, it's a good idea to not sound like an idiot when talking about the mechanics of it.
