Time to bring this thread back to life. What are everyone's hobbies, other than riding?

Wow, that was quite a read.
So lots of nerds and artsy type with a few macho people thrown in for good measure. Nice!

And a guy who quilts? Awesome.

For me:
horticulture/rose competitions and Pharm Tech for jobs.
Silversmithing/artquilts for own art/craft business.

Past: Tae Kwon Do, electric guitar (metal), weightlifting/bodybuilding, arts, science books, DnD (drow elf )

Present: Nature (birding/bats/bugs), heavy music, F1, nice shoes and wine, collecting catfish from SA, orchids

Future: Aspiring gearhead and track riding. Too competitive to try racing - would be dead quickly

A JR GSR? Not bad. A bud of mind had a civic hatch with a B16 and threw a JR on there. Ran low 13's all day. Not too shabby for a 'charged B16. He later threw down money and got a Revhard kit with Hondata. Blew those numbers away. I can't recall what he had.

At the same time I had a '99 V6 Mustang 5-spd with 17" wheels, Steeda TriAx short throw shifter, Dynomax Ultraflow dual exhaust, K&N CAI, and a 150 shot of Nitrous. Needless to say I flew by several cars in my day. Now I just have an '03 mustang GT with: TriAx shifter, K&N FIPK, Mid-pipe with high flow cats and Borla Stinger Exhaust. It is kinda quick. Needs gears. I doubt I'll mess with it anymore. Been thinking about trading in the mustang and my impala for a car with better gas mileage. Looking at the VW Golf with the 2.5L, Golf with TDI, Jetta with TDI, or Ford Fiesta. Not sure as of yet. My wife really likes the VW's...we shall see.

Music - I've played guitar since I was 7 (14 years) and am currently playing drums in a band. We just finished recording our first EP, now it's time to play the waiting game while my other two band mates (both recording arts majors) mix and master it.

Video games - almost exclusively Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 right now, but MW3 is coming soon!

It's less of a hobby now and more of a source of income but I'm a graphic/web designer on a freelance basis right now. I work for the student union at Indiana University when I'm there during the year.

Anything Apple makes. I'm a Mac fiend.

AutoX - just won my first ever (novice class) at an event put on by the North Shore Corvette Club. Came in first against 9 Corvettes in this:

I'm trying to get into photography as well, I have a Nikon D40 that I love but I know I'm not using it to it's full potential.

Cross stitching: I have software to create patterns from photos I've taken, so all my pieces are custom. I'm currently doing two projects: a pic of one of our cats and a pic of my best friend's new house as a housewarming present for her.

Camping: Usually motocamping.

Photography: Trying to learn all the good stuff on my Canon S95 and may eventually get a DSLR. I love composition, which fortunately you don't need a spendy camera for.

Nerdy board games: Catan and the ilk.

Watching hockey: Go Sharks!

DIY house projects with my hubby: Today we're going to wire up some new garage door buttons, plus he's making me a garage workshop for the bikes so we're going to build a little shelf for our air compressor under the driveway (there's a storage area there). We already have the air hose running into the garage so there's just a retracting spool on the ceiling -- it works really well for inflating tires!

Fitness: Right now primarily the elliptical cuz it's easy on my back. I just finished the "Couch to 5k" program, though I did it slowly since it was my first cardio in 2 years. I started it again a bit faster now and am hoping to actually be jogging 5k by the end of the summer (my back injury made me completely sedentary for over a year, so this is exciting).

Stuff I used to love before getting hurt and will be back to ASAP:
Weightlifting: Mostly free weights with the occasional cable machine thrown in. I used to LOVE kettlebells too but for now I'm just setting my sights on dumbbells.

Playing hockey: I played in the Northern California Women's Hockey League (I'm still their treasurer) as well as a couple of tournament teams. My tourney team won our division of the Las Vegas Women's Hockey Classic in 2009!

Rock climbing: Just indoor stuff, but I really enjoyed it.

Really cool how many fellow martial arts enthusiasts there are in our group! I was one belt away from my 1st degree black belt when I hurt my knee 2 years ago in class. With all the other activities I do that involve my knees, (including motorcycling in the mountains!), I chose not to continue with TKD. Don't need a torn ACL!

Jet skis, I used to have have a serious addiction but i'm slowly thinning my hoard out. If anyone here rides stand-up skis i'm sure you can relate.

Golf occupies a lot of my time and money too. I'm training for the senior tour.

Well, I paintball a whole lot, my team is awesome we even won most valuable team @ last year's USMA fall Combat classic

I also like reading, collecting comics, and I also build plastic models(including Gundams, you are not alone Kurosaki). I'm getting into motorcycle mechanics and I also like to shoot and collect guns, sadly I had to get rid of them to move in to my new house( down payment and all) but I hope to get my collection back up in a few years.

I collect fossils, mostly trilobites.

I also do electronic projects. This a small data logger I made for model rockets. It logs acceleration, air pressure and temperature. It can also set off rocket motor ignitors to set off the parachute ejection charge when it detects the rockets apogee.

Here's a copy of the air pressure and acceleration data from the first flight. The big spike is when it kicked out the parachute.

Scuba diving. Both the blue water Caribbean style as relaxation and the black water local lake style as part of my job. Here's a pile of stuff we (my team) recovered out of a local lake couple of weeks ago, stolen about a month ago.

Team mate surfacing (this guy is also one the racers on my 250 Endurance Team)

You can buy tinted lenses for the pregen at a lot of places but those look like stock red to me. Most people doing the DIY fender eliminator just buy sockets and install them into the left and right pods with the stock red lenses but they need to be amber or clear with amber bulbs to be that close together in some places.

They were. Family heirlooms, they took them to a restoration specialist almost immediately after we got them out. The Sheriff's Department arrested the two idiots responsible.

Screw you all, after reading this thread I got depressed at how much more active, fun lives you're all leading than I am.

I haven't practiced a real hobby in years, let alone some of the cool crap you folks are enjoying. Closest I get now is photography, and even then it's mostly "hey, can you take <insert random family member name>'s [senior/engagement/graduation/b-day party/reunion] photos?" I rarely get to just go out and just take photos of things I want to shoot.

Next closest hobby would be my Xbox 360 (which ironically just gave me the RRoD this morning ) but that's one of the staples of my exercise regimen - I get up at 5am and walk for an hour a day, before work, while playing CoD:BO (or whatever current version of CoD is out). Helped me drop 100lbs in about 8 months. Even then, I only get to play it when I do my walking which I enjoy but when I'm giving up sleep, it's not as much fun as it is a chore.

I also catch an occasional movie by myself - yes, I'm one of those losers who goes to movies by themselves. It's peaceful for me to be alone and enjoy a movie on the big screen. I love to watch movies, whether at home or at the theater but I never get the time for that either.

Hobbies I'd like to take up:
-(get back into) hockey
-Krav Maga
-Play the piano
-(get back into) golf

Okay... excuse my pity-party, now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Did you stumble across them in the lake and find the owner or did you know they were there or go looking for them on a tip?

How'd they find the idiots?

They got a tip and the investigators called us (Public Safety Dive Team formed by the county. Only four of us...small county; we have other duties as our primary jobs within the county). Once the tip panned out, they went to one of the suspect's houses (17 year old), and the kid's dad let the investigators go into his room and they found one of the guns they'd kept - a Thompson submachine gun. They went and arrested the kid, he cooperated and another arrest was made.

We actually found the safe by running sonar in a search pattern in the area where it was supposed to be, then throwing a marker bouy whenever something looked like it could be it. Then we'd dive on it and see what it was. Lots of concrete pilings from an old railroad trestle, logs, junk, etc. At depth (about 25 feet), it was pitch black. Had to do everything by feel.

Once found, we brought the guns up one or two at a time, then the next day got the wrecker, rigged the safe, and got it out. Three days total. Took about 20 dives just to find it.

I love soccer, and music and I know how to DJ and play the drums!

I like photography, video games, computers, electronics, cars, bikes, sports.

I work out a lot as often as I can and I'm also going to school to get my bachelor's in business administration.

Did I mention I love soccer and music? I follow soccer news a lot and I am always listening to music. I even have a set of digital turntables so I can mess around at home with my music.

I consider myself a pretty big geek, but a cool one because I do a lot of other cool things too

Motorcycles, target shooting, and playing bass (and making bass covers) are my main hobbies. I could list going to the gym and bicycling as a hobby, but I do those to try to stay in shape.

Post What are your hobbies besides motorcycling?

I really don't have any -- I just sit behind the damn computer all day for countless hours and I am getting tired of it.

Besides my part time job, I have a lot of free time on my hands. I understand that once I get a motorcycle, a good amount of my time will go towards maintenance, pre-ride inspection, etc.

I plan to hit the gym on a regular basis once I hit the gym, but there's not much else to do right now.

I like:
cycling (on and off road - <3 bikes!)
long boarding
being surrounded by the natural world
guitar playing
jogging
yoga
martial arts
eating (I get really excited waiting to eat delicious food )
watching tv shows (like Lost, True Blood, The Walking Dead, Jonathan Creek and my favourite: Cowboy Bebop!)
reading
chatting with like-minded peeps

and my latest hobby... Ninjettes, motorcycles, and motorcycle communities (friendly people)
