DIY: Installing Spy 5000m Alarm on ninja 250r 2008 - 2012 (New Version)
Hi everyone,
I know there is a thread about installing this alarm but unfortunately the pictures are offline so I wanted to share a step by step guide with pics of how I installed mine on my 250R 2012 ninjette. Spy 5000m Alarm Out of the box the alarm will look like this: 14903734855.jpg 1: Loud! Siren 2: Transmitters 3: LED indicator 4: Wiring loom 5: Brain box, Antenna and batteries 6: Microwave sensor 7: Microwave sensor cable First of all, you will need to take off the following components: BOTH SEATS REAR FAIRINGS REAR SEAT KEYHOLE STAND BATTERY COVER If you don't want to lose your screws you might follow this link first How to keep screws organized during maintenance I will put the pictures of my ninjette when I removed the fairings but the official step by step guide is here: DIY: Removing the fairings Let's get started DSC_0600.jpg Removing Seats DSC_0601.jpg Removing Rear Fairings DSC_0602.jpg Removing Rear Seat Keyhole Stand DSC_0608.jpg DSC_0609.jpg Remove Battery cover DSC_0610.jpg Now let's understand what each color means on the wiring loom 1 Black GND ->: Ground to chassis (ends with a ring) 2 Red->: Positive to battery 3 Black->: Negative to battery 4 2x Yellow->: Rear turn signals one for each 5 Brown->: Plate light 6 Pink->: Remote engine Cut Off 7 Gray->: Remote engine Cut Off 8 Blue->: Remote engine Start On After knowing the cable coding on the alarm we will have to locate the turn signals and the plate light cables: DSC_0609 - Copy.jpg For each turn signal we have to connect the positive cable to the alarm's yellow cable -> like this: DSC_0611.jpg Then connect the positive cable of the plate light to the alarm's brown cable-> like this: DSC_0619.jpg Now let's put the alarm's black GND cable (ends with a ring) -> to this screw on the chassis. NOTE: I checked with a tester if that screw was grounded before putting it. GND.jpg It is time for testing the alarm so what we will do is plug the microwave sensor plug and the siren plug to the brain box plugs and connect the alarm's Red cable -> to the battery's positive and the alarm's Black cable-> to the negative of the battery. It should look like this: DSC_0616.jpg After making sure everything is OK with the alarm it is time to find a location for the following components: Brain Box Siren Microwave Sensor Antenna I decided to put the brain box along with the tool bag under the passenger seat. The siren next to the bike's computer DSC_0623.jpg I put the microwave sensor over the battery cover using a piece of Velcro that comes with the alarm and the Antenna onto that metal plate DSC_0622.jpg And the LED indicator is located in the windshield (see the red dot in the picture) I did not make any hole to the dash the LED indicator is just between the windshield and the dash, I just passed the cable under the side fairings along with the front turn signal cable until get to the brain box plug. LED indicator.jpg Now the alarm should be working fine except for the remote engine start and the remote engine cut off I decided not to use the remote engine start at all, I use to have it on my previous bike and honestly never use it and regarding the remote cut off I will do it after the warranty period expires. I will explain what you have to do in order to make the remote engine cut off work NOTE: I am not sure if this works since I haven't try it yet. Please tell me your results. In six months I will probably update this with my own pictures. Get the fuse box and locate the IG Fuse You will have to cut the brown cable and connect the Pink-> and Gray -> cables to each end of the brown cable that you cut. See picture bellow: Fuse box.jpg If any feedback please send me a private message and i will modify this post Last futzed with by jeanca223; October 4th, 2012 at 08:24 AM. Hi the Blue->: Remote engine Start On goes to the start relay but
as I said on my post I won't do it because I actually didn't use it on my previous bike that had it installed if you really want to install it I saw on some posts that it doesn't work well, please check this and let me know if you can make it to work. BTW: Take pictures so we can improve this tutorial This Thread |

Plate Light
I was wondering where to connect the brown cable if I don't have the plate light to connect to anymore. I took the plate light off cus I didn't like the plate light and the tail section on my 09 250R. And the GND wire is fine where you said right? Thank you for the info on the Blue Pink & Grey wires (don't need to be connected) I was confused about those.
