Personally I thought it was much different from the others but I think that is ok because the original cast is aging and a new generation has to take over. I liked it and want the series to continue.

I felt that it was a continuation of the old movies, not the crappy episodes I, II, and III. I don't like how they've deviated completely from the books but whatever. I'll enjoy it anyway, provided Michael Bay doesn't direct them.

Looking forward to the continued story. I like Finn quite a bit. I am looking forward to Rogue One even more.

I'm interested to see what role Luke Skywalker is going to play in future movies since I disappointed that you only seen him in the very end with no words, just a strange look on his face.

It was "A New Hope: Redux", but that doesn't bother me. It was an entertaining movie and I'm looking forward to the others. That being said, I don't terribly mind the prequels, either.

I don't really like this one. personally it looks like a spin off from the original episodes. What I have expected was to at least see how the jedis are doing after the fall of the Empire or how the conflict is among them, to be the leader of the new world. But then again, it's just a new Empire, with new padawans but old plot. You could guess what will happen during watching the movie.

I wouldn't want to see that in star wars. That's good for Bad Boys but not something that could have been classic, like Transformers.

The poll needs a "meh" option. First showing in the theater was great. Lots of similarities to Ep. 4, but that's not really such a terrible thing. But the re-watching value just doesn't seem to be all that high for me. I think in some ways that's due to the amount of time spent introducing the new cast. Meanwhile, I think they missed out for the most part on the opportunity to introduce them through interaction with the old cast. Other than Han/Chewie, there's hardly any. And Han, well...
Spoiler for people who haven't seen it:
I'm hopeful for Rogue One and Episode 8. R1 should be an untold story within the existing canon, and Ep 8 should be done with the exposition setting up the new canon and able to get on with actually telling the story. Besides, the second movie's always the best in a trilogy, right?

I don't see why people give grief to the first second and third movie, I enjoyed those ones. Perhaps it's cause of the books, I'm not a big reader so I didn't read them. The Force Awakens was not attention grabbing to me, and I found it hard to want to keep watching it. I never had that issue with the other movies. I could care less if they continue the series cause at this point I won't be looking at the rest as part of the series.

The reason TFA was so similar and connected to the original ones was because it had been so long since the originals had been shown. He wanted a defined, obvious connection to them. He said from here on they're going to move forward with their own storyline, characters, etc.

In the end, SW is an epic story about politics, religion, a love story and family squabble. The characters are woven together in a way that Bay couldn't pull off. The thing that Bay did capture in TF from what I remember as a kid is; nature, chaos, desire and oh.... EVERY transformer character has died at least 3 times lol. No worries, he will get to your favorite soon. But don't fret, they always come back. I could see Bay steeling lines from the movies and mashing them together like this. Quote:

For me, it was Episode 4 all over again with new characters. Almost identical........Although, I didn't like the ending. NONE of the other movies ended in cliffhangers like this one. None. It was a complete story from start to finish, each one a complete movie in and of itself. I was more disappointed by that than anything else.

Yeah, I didn't like the ending much, either. I mean, it was cool to see Luke still around, but dude. Why's he there?
I didn't mind that it was basically a retelling of Ep 4. I wish it had sort of summarized Ep 4 and then gone on with its real story but it didn't . I like Rey. I like Finn. I'm glad Luke is back. Leia was awesome. I have high hopes for the next movies. Please do it right!!! |

hahahahahahaha!!!!
Just pulling your chain mang. Teacher, warrior, general, something else? I dunno, we shall see. You know for 100% fact that the entire SW fan base will be disappointed if he doesn't take Rey as a padawan. I personally hope that is not the case, I would like to see him sway Kylo to the light and a new villain emerge, but that aint gunna happen. And I still have the open question is Snoke really Darth Plagueis?!?!?!?! They have been dropping hints to his identity for 3 movies now. It's time we got some answers.

No. Snoke is not Darth Plagueis. At least, I don't think so. He has a head scar similar to Darth Vader from EP 6 but I don't think he's Vader either. Although, if he were, it would continue the story line of EP1-6 so I think it's entirely plausible. Surviving the Death Star II explosion would certainly deform him to the extent Snoke is and his Force powers are certainly incredible enough to survive. Food for thought.........

I really think Snoke is a purely new character but it's fun to speculate until we know. More food for thought is that he is definitely Force sensitive and powerful. He has also probably been around since Anakin was born, given how old he looks and what he has been through to create those scars. That said, if there is only one Sith and one Apprentice at a time, how does he fit into the timeline since every movie has revealed a Sith Lord and Apprentice? Jedi gone Dark like Anakin??

They are working through his backstory in "The Aftermath" series which takes place between Ep6 and Ep7. At least based on some of the articles I've read Rax is supposed to turn into Snoke.

Not sure it's enough to pin him as Snoke going forward, but does build a strong case. Don't mean I have to like it though. The main problem I see with it being Rax, is the age. If Snoke has seen the rise and fall of the empire, then the age doesn't match with his word.

As someone who is not that big of a Star Wars fan, I did like it.
I was seriously annoyed with it being so similar to the original Star Wars movie and the ending sucked. It should have ended with them leaving to go find Luke, "ending" the story there, and starting the next story with her finding him. Reminded me of what Hobbit did by splitting the attack of Smaug between two movies, but having the conclusion being just few minutes of the third movie. GAH! *breathe-breathe-breathe* Anyway, I really did like Rey, thought she is a strong character. Not so impressed with Finn simply cause his actions and choices don't make sense to me. I did like Kylo, even being so emo. I want a gif of his tantrum against the computer wall for whenever something electronic pisses me off. I'm looking forward to the continuation. Abrams has shown that even if the first movie he makes is a homage to the originals, he can and will create his own stories.
