0:43s he picks that bike up like it is a plastic toy

I guess I have never had to pick my bike up from being laid down so IDK, but I wouldn't envision myself doing it so easily and I don't consider myself weak by any means.

Any ideas as to what he did wrong when going off the road in the 2nd crash? Not enough lean angle? Apply brakes mid turn? Trying to understand why he didn't make that turn...didn't seem to be going that fast.

In the mess of a thread that is on the 300 forum if you get past the "bad steering bearings" BS the rider actually does some detective work and points out some things that you might miss watching the video that all add up to the end result.

Look at BP in all turns up to the crash including the crash turn. You can't really see his BP but you can see where he is looking and where his head is, it says a lot.

In all the other turns it would seem he gets a little off the bike and pulls his upper body down and off the bike a bit into the turn, which I think not only helps the bike physically, it helps you mentally commit to a turn a little more, IDK, this just gets you set up nice and solid and you feel like you are on more of a rail. (<--that's how I feel anyway) In the crash turn, he never really does this and never really commits, his camera view makes it look like he definitely target fixed, he looks crossed up, never got his upper body and head down and into the turn like prior turns.

In short he half assed the biggest turn of the whole riding clip, once he realizes he underestimated the turn and didn't give it the respect it deserved, he gets scared and decides he doesn't want to turn anymore.

That's my take, but in the end just another Monday morning QB

He was behind the bike for a number of the turns prior to running off the road; turning in early and then having the line run wide as he either isn't comfortable enough or isn't able to turn the bike properly. It came to a head on the sharpest turn while he was still going the same speed. Aside from any BP issues, I'd put it down to not understanding how to give proper steering inputs. MSF? Any other training or guidance other than a recommendation for steering head bearings over there?

heyyyyy! i know that road! it's literally just a couple miles from my family house. i could not count how many time's i've been on that exact spot. that road is the 78 east of esco just past the valley part. leads up to banner grade... he calls it banner grade but that isn't banner grade yet. he crashed on one of the few decreasers. simply scared himself and decided to crash the bike. the parking lot crash was a combination not enough speed, not enough throttle, too much weight on the bars. it's an unfortunately dangerous road. i have known more than one person to over-cook it on that road and slide off down the cliff. my old best friends' brothers' best friend drove his integra off just a little ways down that road going the opposite direction... he didn't make it, but the 3 passengers were okay. you would think they would put a ****ing gaurd rail on that ****.

Light bike or not, that was still an impressive pick up.

Anytime I go around a corner like that, this tiny little voice is annoyingly asking "What if?" as I see it go by in the cornerr of my eye. Now that voice has a visual to add to the nagging worry.

Lovely.

If I drop/crash my bike and am fine, etc. Chances are I will be so pissed with adrenaline pumping where i'd pick the bike up too. Impressive to say the least, but I know if it were me i'd pick the thing up quick like he did too. Adrenaline does that to you.

god these bikes are like tanks, I'm shocked how little damage there appeared to be from going off a cliff. Though it did only slide on the ground for the most part.

I'd likely have been riding the road at a similar pace except with the knowledge that I can go faster if I want to. Doesn't feel like he knew the road well though since he scared himself on a decreasing radius that he could have totally made it through by leaning the bike a little bit more and leaning with it but his bp and lack of comfort with the bike/road really hurt him. You can see where he thought "**** I've crashed" and it feels almost as though he decided to crash rather than try to make it out of fear. I don't understand that logic though, why decide to crash when you have a very real chance to make it? I mean the worst that can happen is you crash anyway but by going for it you aren't necessarily going to

His thread was full of fail on the 300 forum. After that first crash and how lucky he was he shouldn't be so boastful about crashing constantly.

I dunno. I would've liked to have seen him immediately use the engine cut-off switch like he should have.
