Old guy from Dallas/Fort Worth...

...though sometimes I think it should be Fort Worth/Dallas (but who would know what FWD was?) Have fair-weather ridden off and on since I was a kid, but decided to go legal a couple of years ago. Aced the MSF course and got my endorsement, bought me a 250 Ninja, and first hit the road a year ago this month. In that year I've ridden in the rain, down to 22°F, up to 106°F, been to Austin twice and Houston once, and have racked up over 10,000 miles as of last Saturday. Dropped it twice, once parked and once at low speed, and have been hit by a truck head-on. Walked and rode away from all of those.

The best part? The Wave. First time it happened I racked my brain trying to figure out if I knew the guy on the Harley going the other way. Took a few to figure it out, I still smile every time a year later.

Second favorite part? Gas mileage. There's nothing like pulling up to a cage pouring a hundred bucks into their SUV's gullet at the gas station only to put maybe ten bucks at most into my bike.

I'm a long way from considering myself an accomplished rider, and at my age may never be, but I consider the decision to become a full-time rider to be one of the best of my life.

Now to start posting some Farkles, because I just can't leave well enough alone.

I always want to ride, hehehe... Some friends and I are meeting at Stroker's in Dallas on Harry Hines a block north of Regal Row this Friday, your welcome to join us. They have good food, and even though it seems like a HD-only place they welcome all makes. There's usually a half-dozen sport/UJM bikes there. I'll be there after about 5:45 due to traffic.
